We had such a wonderful day at Wollaton Hall. We arrived on a rainy day in Notts and after sorting the parking, which was a bit of a challenge as I couldn’t remember my log in for the Ringo App, I finally managed to sort it. I think £5 for the day is actually good value considering it’s the same amount to park for an hour in the Victoria centre! We headed straight to the cafe for a bite to eat. We had jacket potatoes which were OK. There wasn’t much of a selection of sandwiches which we would have preferred.
We decided to go straight to the hall as it was still raining. I have been several times to WH over the years but this has to have been my favourite visit. It is free admission which is amazing considering you get to wander around most of the hall.
I was really impressed with the new lay out and the way the taxidermy was displayed; especially the room with the giraffe. I know it’s not to everyone’s taste but my toddler was intrigued by them all and could recognise and say many of the animals and birds. He also loved the drawing room that had some games and puzzles laid out.
We particularly enjoyed the fascinating exhibition called ‘Miniature Masterpieces’ by Dr Willard Wigan- absolutely captivating, especially the story of his life. What an unexpected bonus!!!
Upon leaving, a staff member said they had brought our pram inside as it had started to rain, which I thought was a really kind gesture and was much appreciated!
We then went for a walk around the park to see the majestic deer who were wandering around quite happily, eating the leaves from trees.
We will be returning again soon!

Very interesting visit. A unique insight into the past. Lots of personal touches. Our guide Gill was friendly, enthusiastic and informed. She helped us to get a proper understanding of how the system worked.

This museum is a lovely hidden gem with the most fantastic volunteers that run the entire museum. Particularly Roger and Chris make this museum special. All of the staff have such a wealth of knowledge, with extensive information of the history, physics and engineering behind the items exhibited, and the relevance to the cultural history and scientific developments that they represent. Even if one is interested in these, there is more to be learned here in this museum the staff here have so much love and wisdom to give back to Nottingham.

We visited with our two young grandchildren and enjoyed our visit. We only went in the Robin Hood experience which our grandchildren enjoyed as plenty of hands one exhibits. We had to go on the play area with them as they were too young to go on alone but we all enjoyed it. The cafe food was very good and an excellent price.

First visit to this lovely well restored Victorian theatre, and what a pleasant surprise. Very sympathetically restored, comfortable and welcoming.
A very good experience, and one which will be repeated.

We went to the James Blunt concert which was excellent. We sat at the opposite end to the stage but had a good view. The seating is quite steeply raked. If you are tall don't sit in the back row (Row V) as leg room is less than the other rows. Emptied quite quickly after the concert.

The Market Square in Nottingham has the clue in the name really. It’s a market Square and it’s smack bang in the middle of Nottingham city centre.
We don’t live in the city but we’re regular visitors and find the square a nice space to wander around. If you’re being overly harsh, there are too many chain shops surrounding it and the local heart has been kicked out. The Council House sits proudly on one side dominating proceedings. An impressive building that fits right in.
The Square comes alive at Christmas when the market takes over the area. Nottingham puts on a show at that time of year and the market is a centerpiece worth visiting.
The statue celebrating Brian Clough is just off the square and a pilgrimage for many. Impossible to rate the statue, but it's certainly in the top one.

First of three mills I’m visiting today and I must say it’s looking a bit sad without it’s sails and fantail. Fingers crossed they get the money for repairs to start.

Self guided tour to the top of the mill with interesting interactive science centre next door celebrating the work of the 19th century mathematician Green.

Drinks and snacks available and they still mill their own flour for sale.

Foggy day so couldn’t take advantage of the views available from the top.
