Qualifications
Required:
Candidates are expected to hold a Ph.D. in physics or other related fields and should have demonstrated the potential to conduct a vigorous and significant research program as evidenced by their publication record and supporting letters from recognized leaders in the field. The ability to teach physics effectively at both the graduate and undergraduate levels is required. The candidate should be dedicated to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment and should be committed to working well with others.
Position Description
The School of Physics and Astronomy in the College of Science and Engineering at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, invites applications for a tenure-track or tenured position in Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics. The appointment will be at a level (assistant, associate, or full professor) commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Condensed matter physics is a major research area at the University of Minnesota that involves 18 faculty members, of which 8 are theorists. Our strengths include correlated quantum materials, magnetism and superconductivity, quantum dynamics and its connection to quantum information, topological matter, disordered systems, electronic structure and properties of complex materials, and soft condensed matter. The successful candidate can also expect to benefit from a vibrant culture of interdisciplinary collaborations within the College of Science and Engineering and with theorists from the William I. Fine Theoretical Physics Institute.
Other duties of a similar scope as assigned.
