Catherine Reitman

Catherine Reitman is a writer, showrunner, actress, comedian, producer, and director best known as the creator and star of Workin’ Moms, which originally aired on Canada’s CBC and is now available globally on Netflix. She is also widely recognized for her roles on ABC’s hit series Blackish, for which she has also directed an episode, and FX’s It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Additionally, she can be seen in Kenya Barris’ new Netflix series, Black AF. 
Most recently, Reitman was recognized by the Alliance for Women in Media with a Gracie Award for Showrunner, Comedy on Workin’ Moms. Last year, she received Gracie Awards for Best Lead Actress and Best Direction in a Comedy, also for her work on Workin‘ Moms. In 2019, Catherine received the Rising Star Award at the renowned Austin Film Festival for her writing on the series.

In 2016, she formed Wolf + Rabbit Entertainment with her husband Philip Sternberg to produce the half-hour, single-camera comedy Workin’ Moms for CBC. She is the creator, executive producer, writer and star of the series, which is now in its sixth season. In addition, Reitman directed several episodes throughout the series. Workin’ Moms has received two International Emmy® Award nominations for Best Comedy Series and multiple Canadian Screen Award nominations for each season.

Her training started at the influential Groundlings improv theatre and school in Los Angeles, CA, where she was a member of the Sunday Company. She has had roles in other high-profile film and television series including How I Met Your Mother, Weeds, Real Wedding Crashers, I Love You, Man, and Knocked Up. Her additional writing and producing credits include VH1’s Miss You Much, and the web series Breakin’ it Down with Catherine Reitman.
Reitman’s 2017 Ted Talk at TEDxToronto in 2017 has garnered over a million views, and the filmmaker has also appeared as a featured speaker at the BANFF World Media Festival on panels including Master Class: The Revitalization of Canadian Comedy, and CBC’s Breakfast of Showrunner Champions and moderated the 2018 session In Conversation with Kent Alterman, Comedy Central.

She has become involved in philanthropy, producing and performing in multiple charity improv nights, donating proceeds to organizations helping women in need, like Nellie's, The New Mom Project and FINCA.
