Life
She was born in Königsberg, the daughter of Albert Frederick, Duke of Prussia and Marie Eleonore of Cleves. She married John George on 19 July 1607 in Torgau. She was the great-granddaughter of Holy Roman Emperor Ferdinand I. She is also, for all intents and purposes, an ancestor of Augusta of Saxe-Gotha, mother of King George III of England. In this way, she linked the ancestry of the British monarchs to the Catholic monarchs. She was the niece of Queen Maria Eleonora of Brandenburg of Sweden, and she was interested in painting, poetry, and gardening. She used Swedish prisoners of war in the construction of Dresdner Festungsbau ("Dresden Fortress"). Widowed in 1656, she retired to the Dresdner Kurfürstienhaus, where she died in Dresden in 1659.

She had 10 children. Stillborn Son (Dresden, July 18, 1608) Sophie Eleonore (Dresden, 23 November 1609 – Darmstadt, 2 June 1671), married 1 April 1627 to George II, Landgrave of Hesse-Darmstadt.
