ESL awards $7M to Rochester area organizations in first quarter

ESL awards $7M to Rochester area organizations in first quarter

ESL logoESL awarded 76 grants totaling $7 million in the first quarter of the year. The funding went to local organizations that provide critical services and programs to individuals and families. 

“We’re pleased to provide necessary funding to the high-quality programs and resources offered by our community partners who help our community thrive and prosper,” said Maureen Wolfe, executive vice president /director, human resource and community impact, ESL Federal Credit Union. “As community partners, we are grateful to work with organizations to support and provide essential programs and services that strengthen the Greater Rochester region.” 

The award winners included: 

• Wayne County Action Program Inc., $1.6 million for its Housing Rehabilitation Assistance Program 

• Young Adult Manufacturing Training Employment Program, Inc., $900,000 for job retention efforts  

• ROC the Future Alliance, $450,000 for its project entitled, Strengthening ROC the Future Alliance Data, Strategy and Collaborative Action to Improve Education Outcomes, and

• Generation News, $50,000 for Operation GO.

Ryan Robbins, housing efficiency administrator for Wayne County Action Program, said the ESL grant has allowed the organization to help more than 100 households receive free health and safety home repairs. He anticipates the organization will help more than 150 households over the next three years.  

“Community collaboration helps us provide safer homes for members of our communities,” Robbins said.
