I’ve really enjoyed my time at FIT. There are a lot of great professors who really know what they’re talking about and the student body is incredibly diverse. That being said, the school has so many administrative issues and elaborate red tape if you want to do anything. The disability office and accommodations are terrible and impossible to work with. The staff in the dining hall are particularly rude. But, all of that is worth it for the academics.
Student life at the Fashion Institute of Technology is hard to crack into. If you can find your crowd it's great; but even finding your crowd is hard. If you want to be prepared to step into the fashion industry, whether it be through the runway or through the corporate offices, FIT will prepare you. The professors are seasoned individuals in their respective fields, and provide honet advice on getting started in your career. Overral, this is a bootcamp for the industry.
Attending FIT in NYC fulfills a long-held dream, offering an interesting and educational experience in the heart of the city. The unique student life, defined by the city itself, suits my preferences, though a more vibrant campus atmosphere and increased club involvement would be appreciated. I also see room for improvement, particularly in hiring younger professors and addressing challenges in upper division majors, such as a shortage of faculty and potential curriculum adjustments. While FIT has been a stepping stone toward my goals, enhancements in these areas could further enrich the overall experience.
