US singer-songwriter Joan Osborne is heading back to the UK for her first show in six years this July.
Osborne will perform at London’s Union Chapel on Tuesday 2nd July 2024. Tickets are on-sale now.
Best known for her iconic 90s hit ‘One of Us’, from her breakthrough 1995 album ‘Relish’, Osborne released her latest album ‘Nobody Owns You’ at the end of last year via her Womanly Hips Records imprint.
“This is the most personal record I’ve ever made,” Osborne says “These songs come from my feelings about people in my family, about people who I care about, and just what to do with this time that we have on the earth. They come from a raw emotional place. And I’m asking myself that question: What am I here for?”
‘Nobody Owns You’ follows Osborne’s acclaimed ‘Trouble & Strife’ and is produced by Ben Rice (Valerie June, Norah Jones), who also joins Osborne as co-writer on several tracks as well as adding banjo guitar. Renowned lap steel player Cindy Cashdollar is also featured, along with Dave Sherman on piano and Jack Petruzelli on baritone guitar. Backing vocalists Rachel Yamagata and Catherine Russell add tone and texture as they contribute harmonies throughout much of the album. Jill Sobule adds another layer of sound on the upbeat ‘Child of God’ and the hymnlike ‘Lifeline’.
Throughout her 25-year career, the multi-Grammy nominated and platinum-selling star has shared the stage with artists ranging from Stevie Wonder and Mavis Staples to Bob Dylan and Lucinda Williams. She has headlined the Lilith Fair festival, opened for The Who at Madison Square Garden, toured with the Grateful Dead and Motown’s Funk Brothers and played to 100,000 at the Atlanta Olympic Games.
