Maryville (pronounced locally as MUR-vul or MARE-vul) is best described as a town where "if'n you ain't from them thar parts, you need to go back to whar ye from" kind of place otherwise you're an outsider and everyone lets you know it. This bleeds over to the way your children are treated in the schools. I'm packing to move back to "whar I'm from" as I type this.
I have lived in Maryville for over 18 years and I love it here. I love the country feel of it and the fact that I get to see the Smoky Mountains from my backyard. What I would like to see changed is better streets, less development in the country area that is ruining the trees and wildlife, and more people being respectful of each other both on and off the road.
Maryville is a great place to live. There is so much to do, whether you're downtown or in rural parts of the city. The residents of Maryville are extremely sweet and kind, always there to lend a helping hand. Anywhere you go, you are invited to be a part of any activity. One thing I would like to see changed, though, would be the traffic and difficult roads to navigate. The end of work days are the worst time to drive in Maryville. With intersections, sometimes you don't know if you are even driving the correct way because of crazy directions they want you to go.
I came to this town recently after moving from Asheville, NC. I move to have a fresh start at life and I am very pleased by this town and people.
It's always been a nice place to live, albeit there are few activities to participate in. Unfortunately, living costs have skyrocketed exponentially as many people have mass migrated from cities since the coronavirus pandemic.
I grew up here with little complaints as a kid. As I get older it gets busier and busier. There are so many people that a normally 15-minute drive can take you 30-40 minutes anymore. There isn't near enough restaurants to choose from and I'm not talking about fast food. I want to see more places like Yassins. The stores the community wants never get put in and instead we get dollar generals and car washes.
I like that its a medium sized town. Traffic has been getting bad the past couple years. The people here are very nice.
Traffic and housing needs to be changed for a less cramped feel but other that that I like it. Small town feel but not too big
The people here are welcoming and friendly. I enjoy the culture of the town and the overall vibe. It is very easy to make friends anywhere you go.
I've lived in Maryville for over half of my lifetime. I love the small town feel with the city resources. Everyone knows each other, but we also have a lot of modern amenities. I think the current changing of the traffic patterns to make it safer for drivers is a good add on, especially for the number of teen drivers in the area.
My experience at Maryville was incredibly positive. I immediately felt welcomed and at home after arriving. Everyone I came into contact with was welcoming, friendly, and warm. The campus itself is stunning, and there are a ton of interesting things to do there. I could easily spend days exploring the area and admiring its beauty. The academic programs are excellent, and the staff and faculty are always eager to assist and respond to inquiries. Overall, I can only speak highly of Maryville and would advise anyone who is thinking about visiting or studying there. I am so grateful I had the chance to personally experience the atmosphere because it is truly something special. I give Maryville a perfect score of 5!
Maryville is great for those who want to live in a more down-to-earth suburbia with the bare essentials within fair driving distance if you are looking to escape busy city life, though I find it unfortunate that access to public transport and pedestrian mobility is quite limited in some spaces. I would love to see the city improve this by making more sidewalks accessible and making more public transport options available to the, well, public. Nonetheless, for what it is, at least there are plenty of community hangout spots, if you are willing to look in the right places.
Maryville is great in the fact that it offers a small-town feel, yet all the desires of a bigger city. From food to entertainment to nature, Maryville is perfect all around. Its proximity to the Great Smoky Mountains makes for quick and easy getaways as well. I even plan to stay here after college.
It's beautiful. I love living in Maryville. It's next to Knoxville, so it's close enough that you can go to Knoxville for a night out. However, it's far away enough you have the 'small town' feel of it.
A very nice place to live. My only complaint is people coming from other states are causing taxes and cost of living to raise.
I love the City of Maryville. It's beautiful with many greenways and parks to ride bikes or just go for a walk. It's a quiet town and everyone is so friendly! I'm not sure if there is anything I would change about this wonderful city!
Maryville is a place where there is something you can always go do. There is bowling, fastfood, dine in, theatres, shopping cenetr, and so much more fun activities.
