St. Lucie West Centennial High School Reviews

It’s a really good school! The best parts are some of the programs and I would say the worst parts could be some of the fights that happen. I like my school. I love the clubs I am in. I’m in ROTC and a few other extra curricular’s I’m glad they offer. Overall I give it a 10/10.
It's a public high school located in Port St. Lucie, Florida, and it serves students in grades 9-12. They offer a lot of classes like AP courses, dual enrollment, and career and technical education programs. They also have a pretty good athletics program and a bunch of clubs and organizations you can join. The only worst part is that I feel like it's strict especially with the dress code, mainly for girls in my opinion and maybe some school lunches can be better, but school lunch in general for all schools isn't the greatest but there are some good days and bad days. Overall, it's a pretty cool school that gives students a lot of opportunities to succeed in both academics and social activities.
The Communication Senior Year has been phenomenal! Nico has been part of the Baseball Team all 4 years and it the past 3 have been wonderful! The Aice Program coordinator is a HUGE help and keeps the students informed. The Counselors the past 2 years have been absolutely incredible making sure these students have what they need to graduate! All around wonderful highschool experience
You know one thing I learn or at least the lesson the adults at this school tend to hammer in. Is the importance of self-advocacy, like they will always tell you the resources and there are people that you can direct with whatever you need. And I myself admittedly never took either of those in nearly my entirety of my high school years. As the life starts to pile in on a little, I realized now the importance of communicating on my time and schedule to other people. And if I want to work towards something, I'm going to have to do the "walking" instead of relying on my resources to come make the distance towards me.
St. Lucie West Centennial High School offered more than just the basics you would want from a school. From the learning opportunities to extra curricular activities to the amazing principal Ms. Popwell. This school is amazing on all aspects. Even with COVID-19, this school still managed student involvement and keeping academics a top priority. A better high school in St. Lucie County could not be asked for, go eagles.
SLW Centennial high school is your average high school in the district. For the most part, in my experience at least, the teachers are decent and generally teach well in upper-level and college-level courses. Safety and academic program offerings could be improved upon - both categories are quite lacking when compared to other schools in the same district. More support for students is needed in these categories.
The good part about this school is that they help you apply for student aid and scholarships. They give you a bunch of sites to use to apply for scholarships. The worst part is the food and the favoritism. I would like to see the food change the food doesn’t look appetizing. Sometimes there’s a hair in the food or some random thing that I really cannot explain. The favoritism I would also like to see a change, the school favorites athletes. When the athletes get in trouble they get a slap on the wrist but, if it was anyone else they would get a referral or even suspended and suspended from school activities.
The school has a high importance for academics and sports, but the teachers can put a lot of stress on you. The school doesn’t prioritize mental health. So if you do end up going to this school consider this.
Overall, my experience at this school was good. Many of the classes available were ones that I like and I enjoy learning in class. Teachers and staff are willing to help students learn everyday and prepare for college. I would hope to see more bathrooms facilitated around the school because the current numbers are not enough for the increasing amount of students studying here.
I have attended the past four years at Saint Lucie West Centennial High School and although I have loved the high school and teachers the only thing that I believe could use improvement is the communication to students pertaining to what steps they need to take to prepare them for college.
The school overall as a whole is a really great school. There are little areas where they have their grey areas but every school does. Best school in st lucie county by far.
The best part of this school is definitely the people I luckily formed friendships with, which I did not expect as someone who transferred in the middle of junior year. The worst part would be the tight implementation of AICE program which in my opinion, doesn't help prepare students for higher education as much as AP or IB specially if they're applying out of state. Additionally, most of the teachers I've had are lovely and dedicate their time and effort to teach their students while some can be passive-aggressive.
My experience was pretty solid-attending Centennial for 4 years it been a ride a nice high school there’s some flaws, but it’s been a ride for sure.
The school offers multiple sports opportunities - including the soccer team I'm on. They offer plenty of after school activities. The facilities at the school such as the bathrooms, locker rooms, and classrooms are outdated. I'd like to see more money from the school dedicated to the cleanliness of the school.
Centennial has been very educational and has given me (as a senior) many opportunities to learn more about the next steps of my secondary education, and genuinely wants to see their students succeed.
I have been in this school for 4 years and i experience a lot. the best part of my experience is the classes; I have participated in some wonderful classes like culinary arts and digital information technology. the staff and events are also amazing and interactive. the only downside to me is the school's food is really bad and the lack of equipment for sports.
The best parts of my experience at my school are the wonderful administrators that try their best to make the campus a rewarding and safe place for students. There are many students, however, that do not try to uphold these values and make the opinions on the school negative. I had an amazing time here working with involved administration, and AICE/Honors teachers. I do feel as if they hold the hand of students too much, and do not prepare them quite enough for the independent nature of college. Some teachers are also very rude, but if you report them your issue can be resolved!
