One of the worlds great markets
Portobello Road market has a little something for everyone. I was more interested in the vegetable/fruit and food stalls. Devlins at 63/64 market stalls was wonderful. In business for 125 years and has a great burlap shopping bag for sale. Very useful. There was innumerable food stalls. The Vietnamese was especially good along with some tasty Mediterranean, cheese and bread stalls. One misunderstanding is that the stalls are open only on Saturday. Devlins is open 5 days a week, closed on Sunday and Thursday. I think food and vegetable stands are open more frequently. The antique and bric a brac stalls open primarily on Saturday

Very busy but something to be seen
The market that happens on Saturday’s it is a must seen in London, most due to the location in the heart of Notting Hill. You should arrive by Notting Hill Gate station, and follow all way down until Ladbroke station. The market has many shops, and the street market. It starts with antiques, follow by miscellaneous, food, then vintage. By the end of the road has a big food area, and many clothes and accessories. You can experience different things walking here. It is always busy, but it is something to be done.

    Gorgeous Walk
Walking across this lovely road dotted with such unique and exciting stores, colorful posh houses, leafy trees dotting the road and so much more. Portobello market is such a vibrant experience on a Saturday morning. Stop for a gelato or a cocktail as you browse around antique shops, pick up a souvenir or get insta pics. There is something for everyone!

    Experience, Yes! Impressive, No.
I was told to visit by a family member who lives in London. It was ok. Nice to see the shop where the film Notting Hill was filmed. Really not as impressive as I thought it would be and did not offer a lot of bargains. Lot of the items looked picked over and/or were overpriced. We ate at a little spot along the trail, again food was soso. Glad I went for the experience but not very impressed.

Great fun & quirky shopping experience at Portobello!!!
We came in around 2pm on a Saturday and it was SO WORTH IT!! Bought items that I wouldn’t have been able to find anywhere else!! Beautiful quirky off the beat items!!! I am so happy we came and didn’t listen to the naysayers who also said that it would suck because it was raining! We also had food from the food stalls and it was delicious!!! Portobello Road Market is a must visit!!

    Great food carts/tents!
Better than Camden Market in our humble opinion. Less pop-culture trinkets/T-shirts/souvenirs than Camden. More antique shops. The food is really what separates the two. My wife had the best grilled cheese in her life there. My falafel wrap was great. Food at Cambden was a big disappointment. Overpriced and pushy purveyors. Camden was fun, but would choose to come back here next time we are in London.

nice place to do some shopping
went early in the morning at about 9am+ but there are quite a number of traders that aren't open yet. so if you wanna get the full experience, reach slightly later but not later than 12pm because that's when the crowd will start to increase. but i felt that there are a lot of repetition across multiple traders, like they are selling the exact same thing, for example reusable cotton tote with "notting hill" wordings etc.

    Lovely experience
Such a lovely market! One long street with food, jewellery, watches, cameras, and more. We spend 4 hours here, there is just so much to see and the vibe is amazing. Recommend going early, it gets really busy in the afternoon. The colourful houses next to the market are a great picturespot.

    Glad I did it.
I keep coming back to London every once in a while even though it is a 5 hour bus trip each way, keep ticking bits off my to do list. This market was one of those. I spent about 5 hours there last Saturday, 4 would be enough. I soaked up the atmosphere and made a few purchases. Much of the market on a Saturday is second hand / antique/ bric a brac just so you are aware. I did haggle and I did get a bit off at each stall. It became very busy after lunch but having been to Hong Kong night markets we were ok with that. 99% of stall holders were very professional and friendly, one or two were not. I saw someone being screamed at for taking a photograph that they just happened to be in as they were probably just photographing the street scene. Another stall holder was very offended that a disabled couple touched a coat! (I think they were just having a look at it as the stall holder appeared too busy to help them because they were talking to a friend). Perhaps these people should take on board that no one actually has to come here and they should be grateful for the business .Maybe these people who were very rudely spoken to might have bought something? These 2 incidents we witnessed are the only reason for 4 stars rather than 5. Everyone we came into contact with were lovely. The public toilets are situated mainly at points where you cross the road (down steps) The food area with music / bars was probably the most extensive and diverse food market we have come across in the UK and possibly worth a visit in it's own right. Overall we had an amazing time, even finding a nice little Italian restaurant for lunch.

Portobello Road - Where Charm Meets Monotony
If you're a fan of the bustling market atmosphere with a dash of London charm, then Portobello Road might be on your radar. But let's break it down because this is a street of highs and lows that deserves a more nuanced look. First up, kudos for staff friendliness. From antique sellers to baristas in the cafés along the street, the hospitality is genuine. If you need directions or a tip on where to find that vintage gem, don't hesitate to ask. Now, let's talk quality: this is where things get a bit more complicated. The market offers a wide range of products, but honestly, the quality is hit or miss. From hidden treasures to items that are more knickknack than noteworthy, it's a real treasure hunt. So, if you're a bargain hunter, brace yourselves for a journey requiring both patience and a discerning eye. Finally, the less exciting side: repetitiveness. After a while, it feels like you're walking past the same stalls over and over. A bit more variety wouldn't hurt, especially if you're in search of something genuinely unique. In summary, Portobello Road is an intriguing yet flawed stopover. I'd rate the experience a solid 3 out of 5. It's the go-to place if you're looking to immerse yourself in quintessentially London vibes but with the caveat that you may not walk away with a purchase you're truly proud of.

when in London everybody should experience the long walks ,various tastes and the crowded streets full of life and laughter that Portobello Market offers.
10’ minutes on foot from Bayswater where we were staying.
The whole mood and the atmosphere in this area is like of another era ..shops with antiques, paintings, secondhand clothes, vinyl records from all over the world, international cuisine stalls, fresh fruit and vegetables, excellent pastry shops...all of them superb.
There is a south African man cooking and selling delicious paella, made in front of your eyes. We all enjoyed it a lot !
It’s the place where you can eat, love and enjoy yourself. Don’t miss it.

Four of us visited the Portobello markets and I was once again blown away with the variety and sheer size of the market. Almost anything one can expect from a market is at Portobello. The Notting Hill Gate UG station provides easy access The the market area. Highly recommend.

Portobello Road was my favorite market in London. It is a mile long booth-market that sold antique rings, clocks, hats, records, and food. I was able to spend an hour at the market, but it was not enough time because of how big the markets is. I would suggest planning to spend the entire morning here.

A great experience, if you haven’t been before, but not sure if I’d go twice. It is very busy on a Saturday and, while there are some nice stalls, there is also a lot of over-priced tat. The second hand clothes shops that line the market are astoundingly expensive for clothes you could get in a normal charity shop for under £20-30. 345 Portobello Road is a fab vegetarian cafe that’s not on here. That saved the day, because the food was amazing!

The Vintage Fur Garden I visited at Covent Garden last time I bought fur in London, but now they have moved to a beautiful shop at 82 Portobello Road, Notting Hill. I loved them at C.G. but now they have an even bigger selection of gorgeous fur coats and jackets, vintage and modern, classic colours and bright colours. I went to some other shops down the road and none of them had the quality or the choice of designs. I still highly recommend this shop if you are looking for any type of sustainable winter clothing.

A labyrinth of surprises and joie de vivre. Notting Hill carnival is one of the few events worthy of hiring a wardrobe designer for . They shut it down last year . They're going to have to work for their prohibition on Notting Hill Carnival this year. It isn't over yet ;)

Hubby and I went on a weekday morning and there was just a few junk stalls of cheap clothing that were setting up. Empty streets. I bought a scarf because it was cold. Saw the Notting hill book shop which is now a souvenir shop. I wouldn’t bother unless you are passing through anyway. The nice surrounding neighbourhoods are sweet.

Fun to walk around. The food stalls are good, and the colorful houses of Nottinghill are cute. I’d say the Cambon market was more my speed, but this one is still a must. But all the “vintage clothes” from both markets are very over priced. A shirt that would be $1 in an American thrift store is $30 at these markets lol.
