It was pleasing to see that apart from a section of the indoor market hall being closed due to RAAC concrete issues, it was as active as ever. This is a very large market located adjacent to a good shopping mall and close to the Bury Transport Interchange. There is also a large multi story car park on the edge of the market. Although it was a midweek visit the market was very busy and there were very few empty stalls. The range of items available is extensive. If I have one minor criticism, the lighting seems rather dim making some of the printed information difficult to read. As you can imagine there was a lot of steps, but they weren't steep. Really good views from the top. We all had a great time and he loved being able to go on the buses, especially upstairs.
All the volunteers were friendly and helpful.
There were a good selection of vehicles of all types with something for everyone.
My only criticism is that there was nowhere to get a drink or snack (even a vending machine would have been welcome). The highlight is the Wrigley Collection; an assemblage of more than two hundred oil paintings, watercolours, prints and ceramics, which includes works by J. M. W. Turner, John Constable, Edwin Landseer, and George Clausen.
