Want to go camping but want to pack a little lighter or have a roof over your head? There are many overnight lodging options available, from cabins, yurts and safari-style tents to lodges and cottages with many of the amenities of home.
To help streamline camping and overnight lodging reservations, we're shortening the reservation window for overnight lodging from 12 to six months. To move to the new six-month window with as little disruption as possible, the “shrinking” booking window (reducing a month at a time) began Nov. 1 and will fully go into effect May 1, 2024. The table outlines the new timeline:

There are many unique lodging options, including geodesic domes, rustic cottage, safari-style tents, tiny houses and more. Some options have been "reimagined" into something new.
Typically, mini cabins sleep up to four and they're outfitted with bunkbeds, electrical outlets, a microwave and small refrigerator. You must supply your own bedding, dishes and cookware. Showers and bathroom facilities are located nearby.
Typically, rustic cabins are located on quiet sites with waterside views and accommodate 2 to 24 people. They are outfitted with beds or bunks, a table, chairs, brooms and a propane heater or wood stove for heat. You must supply your own bedding, dishes and cookware. A vault toilet is located nearby.
These 400-square-foot cabins are often located on scenic lots overlooking lakes, bays and rivers. Typically, the cabins sleeps up to six and they're outfitted with two sets of bunk beds, a futon, electrical outlets, shelves for food and supplies, a fire circle and picnic tables. You must supply your own bedding, dishes and cookware. Showers and bathroom facilities are located nearby.
Lodges offer a few more amenities such as full indoor restrooms with showers, kitchens with appliances and multiple bedrooms for a more upscale camping experience. Bathrooms are included inside the unit.
Yurts are sturdy, tent-like structures made with insulated canvas exteriors and interior wood latticework. They are outfitted with tables, chairs, bunkbed, armoires, a woodstove (with cooktop) and small propane grills (propane not included). You must supply your own bedding, dishes and cookware. Showers and bathroom facilities are located nearby.
Campers come with some camping necessities for a hassle-free camping experience.
Additionally, there are many small businesses that offer camping unit and RV rentals in state parks and recreation areas.
