How do I sign up for a Reddit account?

Signing up for Reddit is slightly different depending on what platform you’re on:

On reddit.com

  1. Go to reddit.com and click the Log In button on the top right of the screen.
  2. Select the Sign Up link at the end of the log in pop up.
  3. From there, you can choose to sign up with your Google account or Apple ID by clicking the Continue with Google or Continue with Apple buttons, or with your email address by entering your address and clicking Continue.

On the iOS or Android app:

  1. Tap Sign up/Log in.
  2. From there, you can choose to sign up with your Google account or Apple ID by clicking the Continue with Google or Continue with Apple buttons, or with your email address by clicking Continue with Email.

In certain regions, Reddit has a functionality that allows you to sign up with a phone number. If you’re in an eligible region, you’ll see an option to sign up using your number:

  1. Tap Sign up/Log in.
  2. From there, tap continue with phone number and add your number.
  3. You’ll get a text message from us with your one time verification code. Enter the code and tap Continue to create your password.
  4. If at any point you want to remove/change your number or add an email address, you can do this through your Account Settings under Basic Settings.

If you sign up with your Google account, Apple ID, or phone number, you’ll be assigned a random username and will have 30 days to change your username before your assigned one becomes final.

If you sign up with your email address, you’ll be asked to create a username and password to use as your login information.

And please note, as per Reddit’s User Agreement, to make a Reddit account, you must be at least 13 years old or,  if you’re outside the U.S., over the age required by the laws of your country.
