Whatever Happened to the Cast of “Miami Ink?”

Miami Ink is just what it sounds like, a show glorifying the body art and skill that comes out of Miami in the form of tattoos that aren’t just masterful in their design, but have made the cast and the shop they work out of what it is today. Tattooing has been a part of human history and culture for a long, long time and people have taken it to extremes and have used it as a way to express themselves in many ways. For some it’s a kind of addiction but for others it’s a way of telling the world who they are and what they value. Obviously there have been some very strange tattoos out there and some very odd choices made in the quest for the perfect tattoo, but for the most part it’s always been something of an interest and a pleasure for those that practice it.

Now it’s time to see what’s become of the Miami Ink crew, or at least a few of them.

Yoji Harada

Yoji was the kind of guy that needed something because his girlfriend was pregnant and he’d been working for Ami for a while already. After being in a punk rock band and working in a tattoo shop for a while he was ready to take things to the next level and asked Ami if he could be an apprentice. From there it was all the way up as he went on to become famous in Japan and even opened up a clothing line with Darren Brass.

Darren Brass

Darren is the nice guy that will treat you right and be your best buddy in the whole place, something he’s been consistently tormented about by his fellow workers. He’s had over a decade in the business however and is one of the best since his gruff exterior might throw people off, but his kind ways tend to make people feel very easy in his company. As of now it would seem that he’s still working for Ami and trying gain his own clientele.

Chris Garver

It’s unknown whether or not Chris is still with Miami Ink as it seems like he was more of a guest there than a permanent fixture. If you watched the show then you’ll likely know a lot more, but his bio doesn’t give a lot other than to say that he apprenticed for six months, fixing old tattoos and such, before he finally became a tattoo artist. Other than that there’s not a lot on him unless you go to social media and weed out what you can, or to his various sites where his information can be found.

Chris Nunez

Chris is the kind of guy that got into tattooing early and just never got out of it since he has a deep and abiding love for the craft. He and Ami James went in together to create their own place of business and he’s been working his way up ever since, going as far as his career can take him and even further as he’s been a judge on Ink Master and even become a partner in Ridgeline Empire, which enables him to take part in even more lucrative deals.

Kat Von D

Kat Von D was kind of a controversial character and was even asked to leave the shop at one point. She stayed on for two seasons and somehow became one of the most popular individuals on the show. Eventually however she left and went to start her own show, LA Ink, back in California. She really managed to spark controversy earlier this year however when she and her husband decided to let it be known after she found out she was pregnant that they would not be vaccinating their child.

Ami James

Ami is, along with Chris Nunez, the first and final word on the show. He was one of the biggest influences in the place and his word mattered above all. He was the kind of guy that liked to expand however and he announced a new show NY Ink in New York in 2011. The show only lasted to 2012 however and from there he kind of had to improvise and keep going with what he had. Thankfully Ami is also the kind of guy that got into tattooing early and never wanted to get out.

When looking at tattoos and the people that have them a lot of folks tend to get too judgmental and think that tattoos mean that a person is lacking some sort of moral fiber. But in truth a lot of those that have tattoos are some of the most interesting people you might ever meet. Some folks keep who they are on the inside, while others like to show what they love and value to the world.
