We arrived at 7pm last night, was told that the wait was an hour and 20 minutes and sure enough it took that long to sit and eat. But here's the thing, whilst queuing we saw empty tables, the table where we sat at their...bar area was bright and comfortable and we would have traded places to eat there rather than the very dark basement. Why not offer up those four big bright tables to customers to eat and manage the crowds better? Why is the basement so so dark? The food and service is good, there is no denying that. The house chat, black lentil dahl and gunpowder potatoes being our favourites but around West London there are many cafe type restaurants offering the same type of Indian street food for a fraction of the price where you can walk in and get seated immediately. Admittedly they take bookings up to 5.45pm and off peak you could get a table without queueing although we have booked on occasion and still waited up to 20 minutes for the table to be cleared but I still struggle to understand why during peak times, Dishoom does not take bookings and worse why they haven't found a better system to address the queues. I actually think it is to create hype and it appears to be working. No disrespect to their marketing strategy; business is business but it is only a matter of time before a competitor doesn't capitalise on this gap in the Indian street food market. For now Dishoom is in a great catchment area and that seems to be working for their concept. Good luck to them and I mean that sincerely.More

We were staying very close to Dishoom, and so we went to Dishoom for breakfast, lunch and dinner during the course of our stay. All three times we had to wait for 30-40 min, but it was totally worth the wait. Breakfast was amazing, and...this is the only place I have eaten such an amazing indian omlet outside of India. And the cheese chilli toast ! Probably the best I have eaten, ever. When we came for dinner it was 10 pm , and there was a 40 min wait in the cold night. However, we were determined to wait it out. I am glad I did. The hosts served us hot masala chai and that won me over. The food of course was amazing. I had dal makhani, and paneer. Both were amazing. Probably the best I have had in a while ! I really wish the wait wasn't so long, but every single meal and every single food item was worth the wait. My mouth is watering right now, even as I think of the dal makhani!More

We had dinner at Dishoom on a Saturday night, to give you an idea: we arrived at 8pm, we waited 1:30. The wait was worth it because the food was good and the service very good. The price / quality ratio is top notch, no...bad surprises at the time of the note. I recommendMore

Honestly this is one of the worst restaurants I have eaten in. This is not the first time that I have been to dishoom and received appallingly bad service. Firstly there are so many people working that stand on the front desk and don’t do...anything?! We booked at 10am but didn’t receive our food until 11:15, which came cold and my friend even had a hair in theirs. Staff couldn’t care less and the food is so bland and pretentious I have no idea what the hype is? I would have complained but our friends felt uncomfortable, amazingly that you can now charge £15 plus service for Indian bread and a coffee…. Hundreds of better restaurants in London to go and enjoy better service. Never again.More

Was recommended to us and we visited on 15 December 2021. We arrived around 8pm and only had to wait about 15 mins to get in and during that time, staff served a tasty chocolate type drink to those in the queue. On entry we...were shown to a table downstairs. It was very noisy, very dark and didn’t have a great atmosphere. The staff are very good and explained how the menu worked but when the food arrived, it was only luke warm and not that great. They gave us a refund on a side dish of lamb chops as they were so chewy. Food was cheap, but we’d rather pay more for better quality. Wouldn’t go there again or recommend.More

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Dishoom. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and the decor is quirky and cool. The waitress was fantastic, offering us suggestions of what to pick. All of her suggestions were very tasty, large portions, and good value for money. Really...enjoyed the lentil Dahl and the prawn starter in particular. The food and drinks arrived quickly, and we enjoyed the cocktails very much. The puddings were interesting, the cinammon ice cream was particularly nice.More

I had lunch at Dishoom, High Street Kensington. Dishoom portions are usually large, and I never come to finish all, so today my host James from Scotland, made it possible to enjoy half portion with zero food waste. I would suppose offering solo female travellers...the option of ‘half portions” is a wise idea. Thank you, James. I requested half the regular portion of the Black dal with rice so I can go for dessert comfortably. The dal was creamy and very tasty and the serving size was great for one person. The dal was not as spicy as the chickpea curry. I went ahead with the delightfully sweet Pistachio kulfi, it was creamy and tasty. I will never get enough of the Chai, I love the flavour. I will get my vacuum flask to be filled with chai. I will go back to Dishoom, always. SEE photos.More

This restaurant was recommended by some friends who live locally and all I can say is that I was totally impressed. The meals were tasty and the presentation was great. The staff were very attentive, helpful and friendly. The place was packed and it was midweek...and only just gone 4:30pm in the evening. When I left there was a queue of people waiting. It's very popular and now I know why.More

Visited with 4 other friends. We waited almost an hour and a half for a table. The starters were good and tasty. The mains were just average in taste and also small in portion. For me, I don’t think the food actually worth the price....One of the restaurant in Hounslow provides much better food with a much lower price. The drink was however really good, j can’t remember the name but it was one with yoghurts!More

From the staff outside who first greeted us, to the receptionist who showed us to our table, and all the serving staff, everyone was fantastic. It was clear to see they were excited to finally be open again and welcoming customers. Jovan deserves a special...mention. It was clear to see he really loves his job. He looked after us so well, his enthusiasm and his knowledge of the menu was second to none. He gave us great recommendations. Nothing was too much trouble for him despite how busy he and the rest of the staff were, and he was always with us quickly whenever we wanted more drinks. Every dish we had was delicious. The prawns and lamb chops were perhaps my favourite, but I would happily order everything we ate again. Jovan really made our night. The food was discounted by 50% as part of their soft launch offer, but even if paying full price it was definitely good value for money. I will definitely return!More

We came here for a birthday. The food was incredibly flavoursome, particularly the Ruby Murray and Lamb Kebab. The customer service from Shree was fantastic - he was funny and down to earth and we felt really looked after. Would definitely come again

I am likely in the minority with dropping the rating to only a three, there are a number of reasons that they could improve on that would help Dishoom improve. Firstly they still do not take cash even though none of their waiters were wearing...masks, I dont think you can pick and choose which covid related precautions you are taking. It also didnt help that the waiter seemed to excessively spray himself over the large food platter as a form of introduction to the food. Although very nice to know what is about to be served, I dont need an introduction to what I myself have ordered especially when looking at him spraying over it. Why not put the food down then step back and spray your intro at a distance? Shortly after the meal I didnt feel well and had stomach issues. The food did taste good so it is unfortunate that I didnt feel good after. I orderd the keema pao, the prawn skewers, black, daal and naans. There may well be a hygiene issue that needs looking into. I hope what was learnt during Covid with cleanliness will not be forgotten.More

We came for my birthday after hearing lots about the restaurant and we love Indian food. The service whilst waiting outside was great they gave us tea but when we got in we felt like the lady showing us to our table was possibly looking...at our outfits. We had a couple of awkward moments where she just stopped and looked at us intently. We then ended up downstairs. It’s very different to upstairs, it’s dark, very loud and the tables are too close to each other. I am hard of hearing and even found it hard to lipread it was that dark. (For anyone who has one, I had to turn off my aid as the background noise was painful). The waitress who served us was very nice. Though the food was really disappointing, the chicken tikka was possibly the blandest I have ever had. The roti was overdone and slightly burnt in places. The black daal is described as ‘deeply flavoured’ we found it deeply bland. It was a real shame, we didn’t enjoy much of our experience here and I will not go again. To anyone with difficulty hearing, try to speak to them before hand to see if you can sit up on the first floor, it’s much easier to hear and a lot lighter to lipread.More

This is a massive restaurant which is always popular, so its worth getting a reservation to avoid being disappointed. For breakfast, sitting upstairs in the rear within the conservatory has a great vibe and is very cosy. Any fear we had being out of the...main line of sight of the staff was unjustified, since the service was top notch throughout. The staff greeted us well, explaining the menu and making recommendations, and were proactive throughout the visit with drink refills. It’s a shame that despite being listed on the breakfast menu, cocktails aren’t actually available until 11am. Food itself was incredible, with brilliant presentation and fascinating flavours. The keema per eedu had the perfect amount of spice and without the liver becoming over powering. The portion sizes were all brilliant and made for a very filling start to the day. Background music wasn’t the most authentic and it’s certainly not a cheap breakfast, but other than that I’d highly recommend checking it out one morning at least - we’d have gone back every morning over the weekend if only they’d had availability!More

Booked for a 6pm dinner only to find ourselves joining a queue competing with another queue of non booked diners for a table. We were asked if we wanted to sit outside which we declined. Eventually got to a table at 6:20, however this table...was immediately by a door leading outdoors and when I politely asked a waitress to close the door as she had just come through it she sarcastically replied "it's a hard working life!" Too right it is...that's how I paid for the meal! We requested a table move which was performed and our waitress was great, however the wait for the food was about 40 minutes. The food was good. Had worse and had better Indian food. Our meal was to celebrate a birthday and the restaurant provided a dessert with a candle which was a nice touch. If you don't like queues or lengthy wait for food then avoid his place. Dishoom is a victim of its own success. Too big and too busy to offer a pleasant relaxing experience. Would we recommend or return. Never!More
