About this collection

William du Pont, Sr. (1855-1928) was an industrialist and member of the prominent du Pont family, whose family business was the E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Company, also known as the DuPont Company.

William du Pont, Jr. (1896-1965) was the youngest child of William and Annie Rogers Zinn du Pont (1858-1827). The younger William became the president of Delaware Trust Company in 1929; he was also a local financier, foxhound breeder, and tennis enthusiast. He also shared his father's interest in thoroughbred horse breeding and racing.

This digital collection offers selections from the William du Pont family photographs (Accession 2007.205) collection and William du Pont family papers (Accession 2317) collection. Neither collection has been digitized in their entirety. The selections presented here largely concern the family's properties and horses, and were selected from the personal papers and photographs of both William du Pont, Jr., and his father, William du Pont, Sr.
