Melanie decided that Layton's New Eden plan was dangerous and she exposed his lie.

She took control of the train and set up another conflict between herself, Layton, and Wilford. Snowpiercer season 3 ended with half of the train's passengers following Andre Layton, while the rest remained aboard under Melanie Cavill's guidance. Snowpiercer season 3's final scene jumped ahead three months to show Melanie seeing a missile launched into the atmosphere, which could mean there's another previously unknown pocket of human survivors in the world.
