Mark Cuban's Wife Tiffany Stewart and Their Kids - Parade Skip to main content

Mark Cuban, billionaire investor, Dallas Mavericks owner and Shark Tank cast member, is very open about his business decisions. He kind of has to be—a good portion of them are aired on ABC for our viewing pleasure. But when it comes to his private life, Cuban is a little bit more tight-lipped, not divulging much about his more than two-decade relationship with wife Tiffany Stewart.

Still, 22 years is a long time for two people to be together, and some details of the Cuban-Stewart romance have trickled out along the way. Here’s everything there is to know about Mark Cuban's wife, how the couple met and how many kids they have.

How many marriages has Mark Cuban had?

Cuban has been married a grand total of one time. The billionaire was famously a bachelor before linking up with Stewart. In fact, an old article in Forbes quotes him as moving to Dallas for "fun, sun, money and women.” He began his relationship with Stewart in 1997, when he was 39 years old.

How did Mark Cuban and his wife Tiffany meet?

Cuban and Stewart met at a gym in Dallas, which is a pretty casual place to picture an ultra-wealthy businessman. (But maybe more common than we imagine, given Mark Zuckerberg’s recent photoshoot with two chiseled UFC stars.)

At the time, Cuban was pushing 40 and not yet a billionaire (only a millionaire), though he already owned the company that would make him one. Stewart, then 27, was a younger advertising executive.

In 2000, three years after they met, The New York Times published a profile of the couple. Among other things, it revealed that Stewart was still getting used to the 24,000-square-foot mansion Cuban had purchased after his massive Broadcast.com sale in 1999 (he sold the video portal to Yahoo for $5.7 billion). She called the house “impractical,” and said that, despite living together, Cuban was hard to pin down—the investor apparently divided his time into blocks of seconds.

They also had different sleeping schedules, which was at least partially due to Cuban’s computer. “He can't turn it off. He just can't!'' Stewart said.

When asked about marriage, Cuban had similar answers to different publications. “That's a no-win question for me,” he told Forbes. To The NYT, he commented, “It's such a serious commitment.”

When did Mark Cuban and his wife Tiffany get married?

Despite early obstacles, Cuban and Stewart married in an intimate ceremony in Barbados in 2002. There were only about 20 guests. "It was a very traditional, very elegant, beautiful wedding and reception,” event planner Russell Holloway told the Associated Press.

Does Mark Cuban have a prenup?

It’s unclear whether Cuban and Stewart signed a prenup. However, Cuban may have been attracted to her for her no-frills lifestyle. Both come from middle-class backgrounds and Cuban’s level of wealth initially seemed to make Stewart uncomfortable.

“Stewart still drives a Honda to her sales job at an ad agency,” The NYT wrote in their 2000 profile.

How old is Mark Cuban’s wife, Tiffany?

Stewart, born Jan. 1, 1970, is 54, and Cuban, born July 31, 1958, is just about to be 65. That means there's a 12-year age gap between the couple (despite some reports claiming they are 14 years apart).

Do Mark Cuban and his wife have kids?

Cuban and Stewart share three children:

Alexis (b. 2003)

The wealthy couple welcomed their first child, Alexis, in 2003. In a recent appearance on Kevin Hart's podcast, Hart to Heart, Cuban described 21-year-old Alexis as having "the world in front of her," adding that she was currently a freshman in college.

Alyssa (b. 2007)

The Cuban-Stewart family expanded in 2007 with the birth of Alyssa, whom Cuban has called the "artist" of the family

Jake (b. 2010)

The baby of the Cuban-Stewart brood, Jake, arrived in 2010. Just about to turn 13, the boy is already following in his father's entrepreneurial footsteps. "[He's] a little me," Cuban has said.

Overall, Cuban and Stewart have tried to raise their kids normally … or as normally as two people can when they have a net worth in the billions. Cuban told Business Insider India that when the kids were younger, they had a nanny during the week but kept the weekends as family time, making them dinner and putting them to bed.

The family splits their time between Dallas and Laguna Beach, California, where Cuban bought a 7,800-square-foot home for $19 million in 2018. Although he’s able to provide an extravagant lifestyle, Cuban is insistent on raising his kids to work for their own success.

“They have to be themselves. They can’t be Mark Cuban’s or Tiffany Cuban’s son or daughter. They have to be adults and they have to carry their own weight,” he told Insider. “I didn’t want them to have a sense of entitlement. [...] If I treat them with respect hopefully they’ll treat their peers with respect. That’s what we pay attention to more than anything else, how they treat other people.”

Cuban recently told the Showtime podcast "All The Smoke" that he's leaving Shark Tank after Season 16 (the show is currently airing its 15th season). He previously alluded to his exit in an interview with Parade, saying that his desire to spend more time with family might motivate him to leave the show.

"Up until my oldest went off to college this past summer, we always could work our schedules together," he told Parade. "My two daughters went to the same school, my son went to a school that basically matched its schedule to my daughters’ school, so whenever we did something over the summer, I could just say we’re filming Shark Tank this part of June and once it’s over, we’ll all do something together. But now that my oldest has gone off to college, she likes her own schedule, doesn’t care about my Shark Tank schedule. ...It comes down to just being able to get family time together over the summer. That’s super important to me and it just gets harder when your kids are going in their own direction."
