New York, NY, May 14, 2024 – The 2024 Tribeca Festival, presented by OKX, which runs from June 5-16, today announced the addition of 11 new feature films, including eight world premieres. Tribeca also announced a highlight of their year round programming – the New York premiere of A Quiet Place: Day One on June 26 – in partnership with Paramount Pictures in IMAX.

Feature film additions include the world premieres of two highly-anticipated sports documentaries Federer: Twelve Final Days, directed by Asif Kapadia and Joe Sabia, a behind-the-scenes film of the 20-time Grand Slam tennis champion Roger Federer and his emotional decision to retire from the sport, as well as Power of the Dream, directed by Dawn Porter, a true underdog story where activism meets sports as the documentary follows the WNBA’s path from fighting for fair pay and better airtime to social justice.

The feature program also includes the North American premiere of Elizabeth Taylor: The Lost Tapes, directed by Nanette Burstein, where fans will get a revealing look at the icon’s life, beautifully illustrated through intimate interviews and never-before-seen footage; the world premiere of The Freshly Cut Grass, directed by Celina Murga and executive produced by Martin Scorsese, a sharp dramedy about two married university professors who start affairs with younger students; the North American premiere of La Cocina, directed by Alonso Ruizpalacios, an immigrant story about an undocumented cook in a New York kitchen whose dreams are dashed, starring Rooney Mara; the world premiere of Come Closer, directed and written by Tom Nesher, which examines a sister’s grief and desperation that takes a dangerous twist following the loss of her brother; the world premiere of Nuked, directed by Deena Kashper, in her feature debut, which is set during a cannabis-infused birthday party that goes horribly and hilariously wrong; and the world premiere of MAX’s Hannah Einbinder: Everything Must Go, featuring Hannah Einbinder, best known for her role as Ava Daniels in the hit series Hacks, as she takes the stage in her first-ever stand-up comedy special.

Additional political documentaries join the lineup with the world premieres of Missing From Fire Trail Road, directed by Sabrina Van Tassel, a true crime look into the injustices of the unsolved crimes against Indigenous women; and Dust to Dust, directed by Kosai Sekine, an analysis of the environmental impact of clothing through the innovations of Japanese fashion designer Yuima Nakazato.

“At our core, we are an activist festival, united by the belief that art can inspire change,” said Tribeca Co-Founder and CEO Jane Rosenthal. “We’re excited to add 11 new films to our Festival lineup, including Missing From Fire Trail Road about the injustices of unsolved crimes against Indigenous women and Power of the Dream, about the WNBA’s effort to fight for fair pay, plus many more films that will inform and engage audiences."

On the heels of the Festival, Tribeca’s year-round programming continues with the IMAX premiere of A Quiet Place: Day One on June 26. Directed and written by Michael Sarnoski, and starring Lupita Nyong’o, Joseph Quinn, Alex Wolff, and Djimon Hounsou, the prequel is the latest installment in the horror thriller franchise produced by Michael Bay, Andrew Form, p.g.a., Brad Fuller, and John Krasinski.

“We couldn’t be more excited to bring the premiere of A Quiet Place: Day One home to New York— and on the biggest screen in New York City,” said Tribeca Festival Director and SVP of Programming Cara Cusumano. “We can’t think of a more perfect way to close out our programming this June than with some big screen thrills and a film that celebrates the magic of the shared theatrical experience.”

Tribeca also presents an exclusive Membership event of Despicable Me 4 directed by Chris Renaud and written by Mike White. The film stars Steve Carrell, Kristen Wiig, Will Ferrell, Sofía Vergara, Joey King, Miranda Cosgrove, and Pierre Coffin. Additionally, the Tribeca Music Lounge and Escape From Tribeca celebrate the 70th anniversary of Godzilla with a late-night dance party at Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn on June 7. In partnership with Toho International, DJ Takuya Nakamura and Japanese rock bands AnChikSho and Hard Nips will perform live.

The Tribeca Festival is curated by Festival Director and SVP of Programming Cara Cusumano, Artistic Director Frédéric Boyer; VP of Shorts Programming Ben Thompson; Senior Programmers Liza Domnitz, Faridah Gbadamosi, Jarod Neece, José F. Rodriguez; Programmers Casey Baron, Jason Gutierrez, Jonathan Penner, and Madison Egan; VP of Games and Immersive Casey Baltes and Immersive Curator Ana Brzezińska; EVP of Artist Relations Nancy Lefkowitz and VP of Artist Relations Meredith Mohr; Curator of Audio Storytelling Davy Gardner; Music Programmer Vincent Cassous; along with a team of associate programmers; supported and inspired by the legendary Paula Weinstein.
