The 2023-24 Premier League season may have only just finished but there is only 10 weeks until the 2024-25 season is scheduled to start.

So what are the key dates that you need to know?

When does the season start and finish?

The 2024-25 Premier League campaign will get under way during the weekend of 17-18 August.

It will take place over 33 weekends, with four midweek rounds and one Bank Holiday matchweek.

To allow for a mid-August start, there will not be a 'winter break' this time around. However, to avoid Christmas and New Year fixture congestion, the league will give more rest time to sides over three of the festive match rounds, with no club playing within 60 hours of another match.

The final round of fixtures will be played on Sunday, 25 May 2025, with all games to kick off at the same time.

    When are the fixtures released?

09:00 BST on Tuesday, 18 June.

We will have all the details here for your club as soon as the fixtures are released.

When does the transfer window open and close?

The summer window will officially open on Friday, 14 June, which also happens to be the start of Euro 2024, and will remain open until Friday, 30 August at 23:00 BST.

Transfer deadline day has been brought forward this year to be in line with the other major leagues in Europe. The closing dates were set following discussions with the leagues in England, Germany, Italy, Spain and France.

  3. Future looking bright for England's midfield - Ricepublished at 08:56 7 June

Declan Rice believes the "future is looking bright" for England in terms of competition for places in the centre of midfield.

Arsenal's Rice has been named in England's Euro 2024 alongside Manchester United teenager Kobbie Mainoo and Crystal Palace's 20-year-old midfielder Adam Wharton.

Rice said: "I think we have seen in the last camp, against Belgium and Brazil, what Kobbie could do. Obviously in the last six months - and all season really - what he has done at Manchester United, he fully deserves his place in the squad.

"Adam played his first half of the season in the Championship, but he has come from Crystal Palace now. He has been outstanding and I think in training he has impressed a lot of the players.

"He is so composed and calm on the ball. He has got a beautiful left foot, crisp passing, and is all-round just a really down-to-earth boy who wants to learn. He is still only 20 but to be on the plane to go to his first European Championships, what a moment for him and his family.

"I know he is one who won't take it for granted. He will be ready when called upon. I think you could see the other night how composed he is and he is ready for the big stage.

"They are two great additions. The future is looking bright for England’s midfield."

  4. 'No one is feeling bitter about being left out'published at 08:56 7 June

Declan Rice applauds England supportersImage source, PA Media

Declan Rice said it was "not a nice feeling" to see close friends such as James Maddison and Jack Grealish miss out on selection for England's Euro 2024 squad - but added that no player has been "bitter" about being left out of Gareth Southgate's 26-man group.

While Arsenal midfielder Rice has been included, Tottenham's Maddison and Manchester City's Grealish were among those told that they would not be heading to Germany.

"It has been really tough," said Rice. "Madders and Jack are probably two of my best mates in the squad. I have probably spent most of my time with them since I have been here. To see them go is not a nice feeling.

"They both said before they went - Madders on Wednesday night and Jack [on Thursday] - that they wish us all of the best. They were really positive and upbeat.

"Obviously they are gutted that they have been left out of the squad, but I think that's one thing that Gareth [Southgate] has got spot on. We are so close as a group and there is no one that is feeling really bitter about being left out. It is more about the team and those guys wished us all the best, as did all of the others.

"I'm obviously gutted, but in football it is just one of those things. Managers have tough decisions to make and that is part of the role that comes with it. So I'm gutted that they have gone, but they have been really supportive of what we are about to do."

  6. What is Arsenal's summer priority?published at 12:44 6 June

    Your views banner

We asked for your summer priority at Arsenal.

Here are some of your responses:

Stewart: For me it has to be a top striker who will get you 20+ goals a season and probably a hybrid defender able to cover centre-back or left-back/right-back in case of injuries to Saliba/Gabriel/White. Timber coming back from injury is like a new signing and the cherry on top would be finding a backup to Saka on the right.

Martin; We need to move players on - Nketiah and Smith Rowe are the most likely candidates, maybe even Jesus. After that, get our targets in, Sesko looks like he scores goals that Arsenal aren't at the moment, and would be a bargain. Another defensive midfielder too and a backup for Saka.

Sean: It's no secret, we are looking for a world-class striker to lead the line and support the great work Arteta has done in rebuilding. I like the look of Osimhen - pace, power and clinical finisher! But only for the right price.

Andreas: A new contract for Arteta and a central midfielder to play alongside Rice and Odegaard. A midfielder is more important than a striker but will need that too.

Michael: Apart from strengthening the team and keeping Smith Rowe, please improve the fairness of issuing tickets to Arsenal fans via the ballot system. Getting three games in last season is I believe not proportional for a silver member of many years.

David: A striker has to be first. Gyokeres of Sporting Lisbon would be my pick but anyone who can give us guaranteed goals is a must. Get some cover in defensive midfield and centre-back. This will allow for rotation of players such as Saliba and give cover for Partey. Either sign Raya or show faith in Ramsdale.

  7. Arteta a 'genius' for connections he has created - Elnenypublished at 16:23 4 June

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta embraces Mohamed ElnenyImage source, Getty Images

Departing midfielder Mohamed Elneny says the "unique sense of family" at Arsenal is what sets the club apart from the rest.

When he first arrived in 2016, he was captained by Mikel Arteta and the Egypt international recollects the warm welcome he was given by the man who now manages the club.

"Everyone made me feel welcome but there were two people in particular who went out of their way to make me feel at home," he told Arsenal's website. "The first was Arsene Wenger, the day I arrived at the training ground, and the second? Mikel Arteta.

"As soon as I came onto the pitch he was talking to me and, after, we would go for lunch, and in the dressing room he was talking to me, all through my first few days here.

"What Mikel also did was talk to my agent and tell him I was a good player because he knew my agent was going to tell me. And it made me happy. I think things like that, which seem to be part of the Arsenal DNA, are incredible."

Now having been managed by Arteta for four and a half seasons, Elneny is full of admiration for the culture he has cultivated within the club.

"We're really together and we do everything together," he added. "I love Mikel's ideas, for sure, because he always wants us to be together, with him as well.

"Mikel for me is a genius because he made this connection between the players, and him, and the club, and the fans, all of us together. I think it's something really magical - because you have to do magic to do this. I swear, the fans feel like they are one of us.

"They're not apart from us. They come to the stadium happy and you can see how much they are behind the team - when we are away you see how many people come. We are lucky to have these fans behind us."

  11. Who would you rather be next year - Man City or Arsenal?published at 10:40 31 May

On the latest episode of the BBC's Planet Premier League podcast, a listener posed a question about which club they would rather be heading into next season - Manchester City or Arsenal?

The two clubs were involved in a tight Premier League title race in 2023-24, with City coming out on top by two points on the final day of the season.

Ex-Arsenal forward Theo Walcott: "City have come off the back of winning four Premier Leagues in a row. I think Arsenal's a good place to be if you're looking to establish yourself in an up-and-coming elite team. The experiences that City have provided though says it all - when they get ahead, you just can't defeat them.

"I would probably want to be at Arsenal, but I don't think it's ever really possible that City would be on a downward spiral. They had an off-season, a bit of a hangover from the Treble last year - how does it get better for them?

"That's when the players and the personnel changes and that's what Pep Guardiola is very good at. He changes it up and keeps everyone on their toes. You look at Jack Grealish, who's not really featured at all this season because he's got Jeremy Doku now to compete against.

"He's always thinking of the next player in the cycle, he's ahead of the game, he's probably already thought what's going to happen next year and it will probably develop again into the same story."

Former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas: "If I was a young player, I would rather be at Arsenal than Manchester City now because, sooner or later, Guardiola is going to go. There will be consequences.

"I know they are a smart club and they will try to find the best solution possible, but Arsenal are building something very special for the future and I think sooner rather than later they will make it, 100%."
