The University of Southern California's Viterbi School of Engineering's graduate programs in engineering and computer science are ranked among the top in the nation. The Viterbi School offers over 70 graduate programs in eight engineering disciplines, including computer science. The school has over 30 faculty members elected to the National Academy of Engineering; over 60 who have earned Presidential Early Career, Presidential Young Investigator or NSF/NIH Young Investigator awards, and more than a third of its 169 faculty members are fellows in their respective professional societies.

The Viterbi School is a pioneer in research on restoring sight to the blind; restoring memory to sufferers of Alzheimer's; and socially assistive robots to aid seniors with stroke or children with autism. The Viterbi School is home to the first operational quantum computing center in academia, and a leader in artificial intelligence.

The graduate program at the Viterbi School features MS and Ph.D. degrees in the following disciplines: Aerospace Engineering, Astronautical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Industrial & Systems Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering and Petroleum Engineering.

Recently launched programs include Applied Physics, Quantum Information Science, Biomedical Data Analytics, and Advanced Design & Construction Technology. The Viterbi School also offers cross-disciplinary programs in data science, many of which are open to students with a background in business, economics, or the social sciences. These include, among others: Communication Data Science, Environmental Data Science, and Health Systems Management Engineering.
