Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.
The CD had been played over and over many times instead of copying it and using it for a backup, so it was badly worn. Because of this it was cheap. I was able to play it once and save it as a backup for the digitally preserved copy.
Large collection of Tex Ritter recordings from around 1950. Vintage recordings then and this includes an album of children's songs which are on the whole quite good. The 3 Bear Family boxed sets are really of interest only to hard-core fans of Tex Ritter and that does include me.
Got this for him, he says the CD works great and he loves the songs. He had been looking for one of the tracks for a long time, so I had to get this for him. Thank you for making my senior-retired USMC GySgt dad a happy camper!
Cowboy music as it should be. Great selection of tunes. The early recordings truly demonstrate what a tremendous voice 'ol Tex had before he spent a life time abusing his vocal cords with Pall Malls. Keep this album in the pickup. No better driving music to be had.
This, I think, must be a very young Tex Ritter. It does not quite meet my expectations/memories of the timbre of the voice and sheer power of feeling. It is fun, but not quite what I was expecting
Tex Ritter had his own style, and he is an icon. We ordered this CD chiefly for the these song from the "High Noon" film, but all the selections are excellent.
As an "old cowhand" who heard many of these selections originally on 78's, it was a real pleasure to find this CD. Tex is the best of the best when it comes to crooning out the old numbers (Jack o Diamonds) as well as the newer songs. No collection of western country is complete without this album.
Nearly sixty years ago an indulgent uncle took me to see a rodeo staged in London by Tom Arnold, a producer then (1950s) normally associated with ice pantomimes. The star attraction was Tex Ritter and much of the programme's second half was given over to his singing. I was impressed and over the years many of his songs have remained favourites particularly High Noon. This Bear Family collection entitled "High Noon" is the best example of Ritter's work that is currently available. One or two of his famous offerings are missing but in addition to two versions of High Noon the selection includes such enduring favourites as The Wayward Wind, Remember the Alamo and The Searchers. There are 28 tunes on the CD and virtually all have a genuine western feel. A very enjoyable purchase and far superior to many of the other collections available.
