PAGASA Releases Latest Weather Update for Saturday (August 26, 2023)

PAGASA Says Typhoon Goring to Bring Rains Over Parts of PH

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that Typhoon Goring will bring rains over parts of the country.

On Saturday (August 26, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Typhoon Goring will affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA reported that Typhoon Goring was 200 kilometers east southeast of Calayan, Cagayan or 185 km east northeast of Aparri, Cagayan. It has maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 170 kph.

Goring enhances the southwest monsoon, which will bring rains over western portions of Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, and Visayas over the next few days.

The typhoon’s trough will bring cloudy weather condition with scattered to widespread rains and thunderstorms over Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Region, and the rest of Cagayan Valley.

Habagat will bring similar weather condition over Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, and the rest of Central Luzon.

The Southwest Monsoon and localized thunderstorms partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms the remaining parts of the country.

The weather agency said that heavy to intense rains may trigger flooding or landslides over eastern portion of Cagayan, Batanes, Isabela, Aurora, and the rest of Cagayan.

“Forecast rainfall are generally higher in elevated or mountainous areas. Under these conditions, flooding and rain-induced landslides are possible especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards as identified in hazard maps and in localities that experienced considerable amounts of rainfall for the past several days,” PAGASA said.

  • Batanes
  • Babuyan Islands
  • Eastern portion of mainland Cagayan
  • Eastern portion of Isabela
  • Northern portion of Aurora

Signal No. 2

  • Extreme northeastern portion of mainland Cagayan
  • Extreme northeastern portion of Isabela
