Granada High School Reviews
Rating 3.81 out of 5 303 reviews
I have overall had a really good time at Granada. I did not get as involved as I wanted to however that did not deter me from having a wonderful high school experience! The best parts of Granada High School are the teachers and the relationships that you form with them. I enjoy visiting and talking to some of the teachers I've had in past years and it really warms my heart knowing that they care so deeply about their students. An experience that I found was the worst would be the way that they run the school. Granada fails to efficiently run sales such as parking passes and dance tickets and they also lack in maintaining their campus and facilities. An example of this would be the neglect for some of the buildings as the campus overall is old and needs a renovation. Even while this is an issue, it is not hazardous. Just a nuisance. Overall, Granada has a lively atmosphere and very amazing staff members.
Granada High School is a good school that creates a learning environment for students. Granada focuses more on athletics than academics, which can be frustrating, but it stands out with relatively good test scores and the amazing IB program. I have had a few amazing teachers who have improved my high school experience but had a couple who make subjects like science and math miserable. The school district Granada High School is in, LVJUSD, is currently making controversial changes due to money shortages and several teachers have been pink-slipped. Besides the less-than-subpar district, Granada is a good school with several amazing teachers.
Overall, I have had a good experience at Granada High School. I wish certain sports like girls volleyball were more competitive in the league and also Swimming. There are some teachers that really need to retire and should no longer be teaching. However, the majority of the teachers are helpful and work with you if you have a sporting conflict and need to make up work at a different time.
