There has been a lukewarm response from some Everton supporters to talk that veteran defender Ashley Young has been offered to the Toffees.
Young was let go by Aston Villa on the completion of his short-term contract with the club last month, his second spell at Villa Park. He racked up a total of 247 appearances in Claret and Blue over those two separate spells.
Reports have now emerged claiming the Toffees and promoted Luton Town have been "offered" the chance to sign the 38-year-old Young, but that has not gone down well on Merseyside, although some Everton fans seem to accept that the likes of Young could do a job for them next season.

Here is what some Everton fans have been saying about a possible deal for Young on social media...
SenseiCarl: "Regardless of the reasoning, this Ashley Young transfer is an indicator of what’s to come for Everton. The mismanagement of the last 5/6 years is catching up with us. I don’t think we’re going to have the miraculous survival again next season. Bleak times ahead."
David Chalmers: "Why would you sign Ashley Young when Nathan Patterson is right there."
Paul Ellis: "Everton fans shouldn’t be upset a 38 year old Ashley Young signing for free. Fans should be upset that a 38 year old Ashley Young walks into our first XI ..."
Karl Connor: "Ashley Young improves the Everton squad. Couldn’t care less how old he is. This is the reality of where we are. He makes us less bad."
Craig: "I know it’s not the most exciting signing and we need a lot more, but we have lost Mina and Coady from the squad, who were 2 of about 4 that were big leaders. AY experience and leadership could be invaluable."
The Street End: "Ashley Young provides decent cover at LB and RB, but it wouldn't surprise me if he started ahead of Mykolenko. Forget about his age, he's not a bad short term option on a one-year deal. He played 32 games for Aston Villa last season."
TheBlues: "He’s been around for years, he’s finished. Is this is what we’ve become?"
Stewart Carroll: "He’s better than Mykolenko, even at his age."
Brian Williams: "Unfortunately every player we are linked with reeks of desperation because we have no money. A major takeover is the only way forward."
