Strange combination of city of Rochester history exhibits, Native People’s exhibits, natural history exhibits, and a science museum. Most of the exhibits seemed dated and some were out of order due to Covid and some were just broken.
Been to other science museums in cities that are Rochester’s size (Toledo and Fort Wayne) that are more engaging for kids and more fun.
Not very cheap either at $16/adult and $14/kid. On the positive side, parking is free and while the cafe is closed due to Covid, they do allow you to bring in food and beverage and eat in the cafe seating area. Neighborhood around museum is very interesting with lots of historic mansions.

It had a fascinating and large display of Indians and Africans history, in this country. A huge moving earth display, dinosaurs. I found it interesting all the dinosaur bones discovered near Rochester. 3 floors, with lots to look at and many displays to try. It was fun and educational.

In this day and age of alternate-reality paranoia against "critical race theory" it's great to see fearless exhibits dealing with the history of racial caste in this country. The Underground Railroad displays highlight heroic efforts of all kinds of Americans (very reminiscent of brave Germans who sheltered Jews at great risk to themselves). A must-see for the city of Frederick Douglass! There was also a profound exhibit on objective racism. We should stay educated on these things and keep the post-truth mob at bay.

Absolutely loved it here !! So much fun the dinosaurs were so realistic and actually scared me a few times when they moved lol. So many things you can actually play with and experience. I’m from out of town so I’m not used to there being a large deaf community in the area I was absolutely thrilled when I saw a very interesting holographic video playing of the women who shaped rochesters history signing in ASL. It really made my day. Also the museum is very we’ll kept the staff are very friends I has a wonderful time and would definitely go again.

I do not remember the Rochester Museum & Science Center having such great exhibits! I've been here before but this visit was an eye-opener. I do not recall seeing the dinosaur and glacier exhibits last time. The hands-on stuff for the kids are fabulous. My son had the choice to go here or to Strong Museum of Play over spring recess and he choose the Science Center...donate today - it's worth investing in this community gem.

expensive, and boring with outdated exhibits. the people who work there are rude, lazy, and uncaring and offer no customer service. it will be a waste of money and time.

There's a lot of activities to do, most of them have a scientific reason and they're clearly explained in a sign. You can touch almost everything because they want you to be able to put it to the test yourself (Especially the people who need to see for themselves). I think this is a must see place to anybody who is visiting Rochester, there's an open space where you can eat, the place is really clean, there's even places you can seat and relax for a while but everything is so interesting you don't really get to much time to do so.
This place is specially appealing to kids because there's bight colors and fun activities everywhere you look at.

I went to this museum instead of the Strong Museum in hopes to avoid children. However, that is the exact opposite experience that i encountered. Not only we're there out of control, screaming children, the place was a total bore. Half the "interactive" exhibits were out of order and the cafe in the basement was something out of a horror movie.

Wow this place was terrible. I would rather watch paint dry than go back. They had dead animals stuffed which grossed me out and just weird exhibits. I had more fun visiting Wegmans!

The RMSC is well laid out with interactive exhibit which fascinate young and old. (I am 65 and didn't get to see all that I wanted. The Planetarium next door is equally incredible.

They have a cafeteria: lunch area downstairs. I believe you can bring your own lunch in. This museum is big enough to spend a few hours so definitely plan for a break/lunch time
