S01E03 ends with Buck Owens and the Buckaroos' "Act Naturally". Here's something extra:
Walton Goggins' character - who is the main focus of that scene - is a ghoul. Necropolis is effectively home of the ghouls in Fallout 1, which is in Bakersfield, California.
Buck Owens and the Buckaroos are from Bakersfield, California. Use this to your advantage when people say the Fallout TV show writers don't know the Fallout universe well, because they clearly do.
Did you listen to the lyrics? “Act like a man who’s sad and lonely. All I gotta do is, act naturally.” There are multiple layers to that song choice. And if you like that song, Buck has a whole discography of bangers.
Oh absolutely, I grew up listening to the Beatles' version.
I thought the Beatles wrote that song and always loved it. Only after watching Fallout did I realize it was a cover. Fun fact: I’m from Bakersfield and have driven down Buck Owned Blvd. a million times.
Oh hell yeah dog!
My brain is just mush right now whats the Buck Owens and Buckaroos thingy?
The band that sings the song at the end of episode 3 is from the same place in California where the ghouls live in fallout 1.
Oh yeah, and in Pre-War, Cooper convinced Barb to move to Bakersfield
He wanted to move there but she told him it was silly and she was working to get the family into one of the "good" vaults.
Oof she knew of the faults put into the Bakersfield vault 12 doors. And that’s before the big meeting with the other companies where they started throwing around experiments.
I don't think she was specifically commenting on the Bakersfield vault since Cooper's idea was to buy a ranch.
We don’t know what happens between the time he overhears the industry leaders discussing their plans and the time we see him at the birthday party, but it’s implied that his marriage and career have both fallen apart during that period. So perhaps he now lives on a horse ranch in Bakersfield while Barb stayed behind.
Theeeeyre gonna put me in the movies!
That’s a dope connection to make!
That song will forever make me think of Remember The Titans. "Yes! This one! I don't even have to ask, but I will. What do you think about this one?"
“I’m So Blue” from New Vegas was also in Remember the Titans.
I completely forgot it was in Remember the Titans, but I also haven't seen the movie since I was a kid.
Way cool! Thanks! I'm really impressed by the FOTV show, it's obviously a labor of love
I went into it very sceptically because I haven't enjoyed how Bethesda has handled the franchise at times, but they really won me over fast. Love the show.
