Farhan Akhtar is the son of popular Bollywood playwright, Javed Akhtar and Indian actor Honey Irani. Javed Akhtar and Honey Irani have parted ways years ago and Javed Akhtar then tied the knot with Bollywood actor, Shabana Azmi. She and Javed Akhtar are also parents to famous filmmaker Zoya Akhtar.
Farhan Akhtar‘s mother, Honey Irani started her Bollywood career as an actor. She met Javed Akhtar on the sets of Seeta Aur Geeta and the duo soon tied the knot. Javed Akhtar and Honey Irani parted ways in 1985, after the lyricist’s alleged affair with Shabana Azmi.
After her wedding to Javed Akhtar, Honey Irani eventually bid farewell to ther acting career and started her career as a writer. Honey Irani went on to write screenplays for Koi Mil Gaya among many other hits.

Talking to ETimes about Shibani, Honey Irani said, “Shibani is lovely, pleasant and gorgeous; she is madly in love with Farhan. Farhan too is madly in love with her. I just hope they make and keep each other happy.” She revealed that the couple disclosed their plans to get married at a dinner outing some time back.
She also said that they as parents are not the interfering types and would have approved of whatever they wanted. “The most important thing is that they are both very happy. I just hope they have a wonderful life; it’s really nice to see they are tying the knot now. They were very serious about each other.” she added.
In an interview with Etimes, Honey also talked about Shibani’s cooking and said, “Well, she doesn’t cook. I must say that she is learning to cook, she keeps trying and I know she will succeed someday. But honestly speaking she doesn’t need to cook. We are not in times where we ask things like, ‘Kya ladki ko khaana banane aata hai?” (Does the girl know how to cook)
Honey Irani also added that Shibani is a very “lovely child and so beautiful and is extremely respectful towards others.” She revealed that Farhan Akhtar and Shibani Dandekar live next door, so they meet every second day. Shibani is “quite a foodie.”
