My boyfriend, friend and I were looking for a cool place with decent food to watch the OKC vs. GSW game (Go Golden state!) And we decided to try Flights Sports Bar and Grill. Based on the reviews and the cool pictures, we thought...why not? First the good: The atmosphere is indeed pretty cool. The TV'S and surround sound make this a great place to watch a game and almost feel like you're there. The "flight" theme is also cool...everything has some kind of relation to airplanes and/or "flight"...the idea of buying a "flight of beers" to taste test while you watch a game is a cute idea. The servers were friendly and attentive. Now the bad...Oh, but where to start?? Let's start with price. Things were way over-priced. I'm not even talking nickle-and-dime...I'm talking down to the PENNY. Funny story: my friend ordered nachos and one of the ingredients listed in the description said "jalapeño". Great. We like it hot! Well, we got a tiny sliver in the whole basket...so we asked the waitress for some jalapeños to put in the nachos since we were jalapeño-less. When we got our check we saw we were charged $0.01 for the "extra jalapeños". It's not the money, but holy crap talk about penny pinching your customers! Especially when... The food is nothing to write home about, except for maybe to complain about how anticlimactic it was. We sampled the nachos, wings, sliders and sampled a "flight" of beers. Let's start with.. The nachos: It felt like we got the chip crumbs at the bottom of the chip bag. We paid an extra $1.50 for shrimp to be added to our nachos...I honestly think they took 2 baby shrimp and cut them each in half. They were mixed in with some curd-y lumpy cheese and a dollop of that was put on a basket of chip crumbs. Voila! I give you "propeller nachos". The wings: We got half island Guava/pineapple wings and half Sriracha. Both were actually good, but totally over pierced: 12 for $16...roughly $1.33 each. Ouch. The sliders: Were like two mini hockey pucks between two dry pieces of bread. But on a positive note the homemade potato chips were good...we used these to scavenge for shrimp and jalapeños in our nacho basket (but found nothing). The beers: Now this is just a guess but...methinks one of the highlights of this place is their home brewed beers and sampling a "flight" of said various (the menu is quite impressively long) beers. Well, cute idea but paying $3.50+ per 5 Oz. of beer...may not even be that bad if the beers were actually good. My boyfriend got the "by far most popular beer for both ladies and dudes" (according to the menu) was too malty and flat at best. Mine was some tropical pale ale, and it was ok. Our friend got something forgettable. Bottom line: Flights Sports Bar and Grill offers a fun atmosphere for watching the game, with big screens and surround sound you won't miss a moment of the action. But if you like good food, I advise eating before going in.
