Audience Member Meh western about logger Alan Ladd wanting to deforest an area near a small town and runs afoul the townspeople and a love interest. Frankie Avalon is one of the loggers and sings "Gee Whiz Whillikins Golly Gee," which pretty much sums up this rather trite film based on a Louis L'Amour novel and adapted by producer Aaron Spelling, who I had no idea had been a part of Hollywood this long. I think I'd rather have watched Spelling classics like "The Love Boat" or "Fantasy Island." Again, don't know what this guy's appeal was? His expressions and mannerisms are almost comical. Almost as bad is his partner Monty (Roland). Yikes, these two make quite the pair, they even dress bad. Not enough western here to keep me truly satisfied. On a minor, neat note; I love the wanted posters in Sheriff Taylor's office. In front of each one hangs a single action revolver, which I'm assuming was supposed to represent that the bad guy had been caught. Very cool but not cool enough to make this a classic. Liked the logger's song. It was catchy. Worth watching once, and maybe I'll watch it again but only because I really enjoyed how bad Ladd was. Laughing and smiling to myself as I type.
