English Doctors in Nerja

Can anyone recommend an English (or English speaking) doctor in Nerja. Preferably Burriana side of town.

We haven't got an EHIC card (ours ran out a while ago and we for got to renew!) Will this be a problem?

And can you buy anti-biotics over the counter?

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Scroll down a bit and you'll see what to do to replace your EHIC whilst abroad:

As for anti-biotics over the counter, no, they stopped that a while ago - at least on the CDS - other places in Spain you can "apparently" get them over the counter, but not down south - you need a scrip from the Docs.

People we know were in a similar situation to yourselves (not in Nerja). They tried to see a Spanish NHS Dr without a current EHIC with no success. They then tried to renew the card - don't know if they used the link above - and were told that only cards stolen or lost whilst away could be renewed this way not those out of date (I am not saying this is true in every case as maybe they were unlucky and you will find yours can be renewed).

This thread is a timely reminder for everyone travelling soon to ensure that their EHIC is up to date.

Dr. Rik Heymans is a popular doctor with ex-pats.

Also as mentioned in post 3, Clinica Rincon.

Neither will be all that cheap.

I have had appointments in the past with Dr Rick ,he is very good.

If you replace your EHIC card and go to the Ambulatorio they have volunteer interpreters there. Also you can request an English speaking doctor, there are one or two up there. If you need antibiotics I would get them before you go. I took some out with me last time in case a dental problem re-occurred (thankfully it didn't!)
