We did the short 2 day 1 night tour with camping.
The hike was intense with a steady pace but worth it with spectacular views as the reward.
Our tour guide Luz was great. Super friendly, supporting and informative. She also was kind enough to take some great photos of our small group.
    5 stars from me.

Fantastic tour. Jose is a fantastic guide, lots of information and good communication. Made the experience truly memorable. I booked on Viator because I didn't think people still used Tripadvisor.

Marco was an excellent guide and we enjoyed every minute of our tour. Very informative, we highly recommend a private tour to get the most out of your experience. We were a group of 3 couples.

I cannot say enough positive things about our INCREDIBLE guide, Francisco, our amazing team of porters and chef.
The trek itself is a bucket list item / a breathtaking experience, but Francisco really made the experience stand out as the best guided trek i have ever been on.
Francisco has an encyclopedic knowledge of Incan history, Andean culture and the regional floral and fauna. He shared personal stories and an intimate knowledge of the area that he had acquired through living with his grandfather in the mountains. These extra-mile moments made the trip so special. I left the trip with a vast amount of knowledge and curiosity. Most importantly, Francisco treated the entire group with an inordinate amount of respect and care, and we were all incredibly sad to have to part ways with him as we truly consider him a friend. Francisco is a one of a kind, charismatic, force of nature and anyone would be exceptionally lucky to learn from him :)
Same is true for our team of porters and chef. Despite a language barrier (and our likely embarrassing attempts at speaking Quechua, which Fransisco helped with), our entire team oozed kindness and the most positive energy. The meals were fresh, PLENTIFUL, delicious and the perfect fuel for hiking. I’ll never cease to be amazed by the sheer strength and incredible teamwork exhibited by the porters.

There are plenty of companies providing a guided tour of the Inca trail, and I would suggest Bamba any day solely based on my interactions and experience with Francisco alone.
That being said, I would encourage all travelers to do their research and make sure the company you’re booking with treats their guides and porters properly.
We had a few experiences with the office of Bamba that left a semi- sour taste in our mouths. First, we paid for renting trekking poles when we booked. Despite having an invoice for these rentals, we ended up paying again to rent poles when we showed up at our pre-departure meeting. Additionally, one person in our group lost their poles mid-trek (completely his fault lol) and after talking with the Bamba office, it became clear that the cost of these poles ($100 USD! for very well-used poles) would have come out of our guides salary had we not dealt with the issue directly. I absolutely disagree with Bamba’s policy of penalizing their (exceptional) guides for the carelessness of tourists.

All in all, I would highly recommend this trip to anyone.
Francisco, if you’re reading this, we LOVE YOU and you’re the GOAT 🩷

This was a wonderful and memorable experience! The tour was nicely scheduled, and the logistics seemed effortless. Since it was a private tour, we felt like we could go at our own pace and not feel rushed and trying to squeeze everything in. We also liked how we had enough time in Machu Picchu to not only take beautiful pictures but also gaze into the scenery and really look around the old city and imagine and discuss what could’ve been.

Our driver drove responsibly and safely, and our amazing tour guide, Domingo, was extremely knowledgeable, caring, trustworthy, attentive, passionate, fun, and energetic.

We learned so much history and culture from Domingo, and he was able to answer every question with ease! It was so insightful to learn more about the background of these places and find out more information from a local than what you read on Wikipedia. We really appreciated the logical and practical approach Domingo applied to the potential theories of these places versus sensationalizing elaborate theories.

Highly recommend this tour and its setup. We felt really cared for and comfortable throughout this trip and so grateful for this incredible adventure! Thank you, Machu Picchu Viajes!

I just had incredible opportunity to embark on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu with Alpaca Expeditions, and it was an experience of a lifetime! The trek was impeccably organized from start to finish, and I couldn't have asked for a better team to guide us through this breathtaking journey.

Our tour guide, Saul, was simply amazing. His extensive knowledge of Inca history, culture, and the natural surroundings added a rich layer of context to every step we took. Saul's passion for the trail and his enthusiasm were infectious, making the trek not just a physical journey but a deeply educational and emotional one. He was always ready with fascinating stories and insights, which made the entire trek much more meaningful. His photography skills are outstanding. Pics made me always smile.

Equally fantastic was Reynaldo, our assistant guide. Reynaldo was incredibly supportive and attentive to everyone's needs. He ensured that we were all comfortable and safe throughout the trek, always offering a helping hand or a word of encouragement when needed. His positive energy and cheerful demeanor were a constant source of motivation.

The logistics of the trek were superbly managed by Alpaca Expeditions. The equipment provided was top-notch, and the food prepared by the cooking team was delicious and nourishing, far exceeding our expectations for a trek. The porters, often the unsung heroes of the trek, were efficient and hardworking, ensuring that our camps were always set up perfectly.

The Inca Trail itself is a challenging but immensely rewarding experience. The landscapes are stunning, ranging from lush cloud forests to rugged mountain passes, culminating in the awe-inspiring sight of Machu Picchu. The sense of accomplishment upon reaching the Sun Gate and seeing Machu Picchu for the first time is indescribable.

I highly recommend Alpaca Expeditions for anyone considering the Inca Trail. With guides like Saul and Reynaldo, you're guaranteed to have an unforgettable adventure. This trek was not just about reaching Machu Picchu; it was about the entire journey, and Alpaca Expeditions made every moment special.

Thank you, Alpaca Expeditions, Saul, and Reynaldo, for an extraordinary experience!
