Union High School, like many other high schools, falls victim to mismanagement that trickles down from the highest level of authority to the lowest. Because of lazy and haphazardly designed programs, rules, and regulations the mass majority of students suffer. Both the faculty and large amount of the student body have become lazy, simply coming to school for a diploma, or paycheck. It seems that teachers have forgotten why they became teachers in the first place, to enrich and educate the youth, and on the flip side students have lost all motivation and enthusiasm to learn. One can blame the teachers or students or even the administrators, but I believe that the problem is much deeper than that. Students and faculty alike feel the walls closing in on them, a never ending echo chamber of ,“Why should I do this? No one else cares to anyways.” Students have stopped learning and teachers have stopped caring. Now all that matters are the numbers, not the education of our youth.
I had the best four years of my life here at UHS. Everyone from the teachers to staff to students were all supportive and helpful. I met great people here. There may have been struggles here and there with academics, but I had the necessary help to succeed. The school is very diverse and most teachers care about teaching and learning from students.
No Comments. The school is better for an average middle class students. The programs and involvement are great.
