RV AC loud banging

Hey guys, installed a Dometic Freshjet 3 two days ago and work up this morning to a loud banging noise. It sounded like it was hopping around on the roof it was so loud. Turned it off immediately and after some time turned it back on to try and troubleshoot but it has yet to repeat the problem. Any ideas and help greatly appreciated. I need to get this fixed as it’s getting super hot here in Florida during the day.

Our new Domestic fan was out of round and caused a bad vibration. Installed a new one and it fixed the issue.

Out of round? I’m sorry I don’t know much about these, I’m new to RV living

RV Tech: I would suspect the fan since it is the only sizable moving part in the AC that would generate a banging. The fan motor turns a shaft that has a fan on each end. One fan is a typical bladed fan that blows air across the condenser coils. The other fan is a squirrel cage type fan that pull air through the filters, across the evaporator coils, and then back into the rv.

The fan may not be fastened down correctly, a fan may be broken, or the shaft could be bent. You would need to get to the roof unit and inspect. The shroud can be removed to inspect the fan motor, outside part of shaft, and condenser fan.

Getting to the squirrel cage fan is a little more difficult. You would need to take the plenum off to expose the evaporator side. The evaporator fan is right behind the evaporator coils.
