Established on the banks of the river that gave it its name, 18 kilometres north-east of Tulle, the charming medieval village of Corrèze with its slate roofs invites you to discover its beautiful heritage.

Opening onto the church square, the Margot gate erected in the 15th century is a remnant of the old wall walk that once protected the entrance to the town. A registered Historic Monument, it is crowned by a niche containing a statue of St. Martial. Also listed on the Inventory of Historic Monuments, the Church of St. Martial, built in the 12th, 13th and 15th centuries, houses a magnificent polychrome altarpiece made at the turn of the 18th century by Jean Tournié, a master sculptor from Gourdon. Around the church are several Renaissance houses, such as the Florentin and Terriou mansions from the 17th century, which boast elegant façades.

A few minutes' walk from the town centre, you can admire a most picturesque site: at the end of the Corrèze, in a peaceful and green setting, stand the pretty Chapel of Our Lady of the Bridge of Salvation (Notre-Dame du Pont du Salut), where a pilgrimage takes place every year on 8 September, and its old stone bridge with two arches spanning the river…
