Nearby Resident: Chesterbrook is not the community it used to be. The Township allowed much denser development in a large section that was once a larger shopping center featuring a supermarket. This section is the opposite in zoning which featured abundant green space in each development. Cheap 3 story construction will look like hell in 20 years. Current Resident: I have lived in Ardmore ever since I was a baby. My mom who is white was in the Peace Corps and was assigned to St. Lucia. While helping out and trying to make St. Lucia a better place she met my father and eventually moved back to the states together. They lived together for a few years in my mom's childhood home in Broomall, a non-diverse town about 15 minutes away. When she became pregnant with my brother they knew they needed to move somewhere where they felt accepted and safe - Ardmore was that place. My brother an I loved growing up in Ardmore and seeing people who looked like us. However, as we grew up and became more aware and intelligent, we realized and saw the racism that does take place, happening at school in particular. In fact, during the prime of the Black Lives Matter movement I became actively engaged in helping my school and the district as a whole become more diverse and to help minorities feel belonging. Current Resident: I’ve grown up here and I think it’s a really nice town. It’s certainly very liberal, and It’s not really a place to move to unless it’s for college or raising a family I think, but I think it’s great. People often have stereotypes about people from here being hippies, I think everyone is just an individual and people just don’t confirm the same way people in suburban hellscapes like springfield do... Current Resident: Aspinwall is the best place to live if you love the Pittsburgh city neighborhood feel, but did not hit the lottery for the magnet schools. There are tons of kids and three really nice walkable parks. School Bus stops are daily social events, neighbors are friendly, and there are multiple free/well-attended community events/concerts. For adults there are several quality restaurants/bars within walking distance (cornerstone, Sam’s tavern in the wall, Luke and Mike’s front porch, caliente, feast on brilliant, farmer x baker) and numerous snacking/shopping options (Willy’s, treat down the street, beans n cream, spark books, Bella Christie, rosebud, dovecote, and more). Close to waterworks for all the suburban conveniences. Easy Uber to Lawrenceville for a night out. There are multiple bike and bus options if you need to get to Pittsburgh and more in progress with the brilliant line and connection to river trail. Current Resident: It's quiet, calm, and connected with nature in spite of its modernity. I've lived in Jenkintown for sixteen of the seventeen years I've been alive, and I've loved it. Houses are relatively close but with a broad enough property that they don't get in each other's space. Its tree-laden makeup compliments the town uniquely during each of the four seasons. I feel that a sidewalk may be beneficial in more areas than just certain blocks of housing, as I've found myself on the road on runs or casual walks. I don't have too many improvements aside from that. It might be simply the bias of longtime residence but the town is just really well spaced out and put together. Current Resident: We LOVE Paoli. We are able to walk to the grocery store and the train, plus other little shops and restaurants. It has a GREAT public school, one of the best, for our kid. It's easy to get to Philly & NYC on Amtrak. The one tricky thing is the cost of housing. We are in a townhome that we've outgrown but can't move up to a larger property because of how expensive the real estate is. For that reason we may eventually migrate to Malvern. Current Resident: Because of its close proximity to State College and Penn State University, Boalsburg introduced me to a college town culture that allowed me to form my first proper friendships in middle and high schools, engage in numerous activities (such as volunteering at Schlow Library, hiking in the forests around Tussey Mountain, etc.), and create opportunities that built me into who I am today. Boalsburg is surrounded on all sides by hills, forests, and flora, so I am never too far away from the Pennsylvanian natural scene. Current Resident: I have been a resident of Upper Uwchlan Township for 16 years and love it! Easy access to gorgeous parks, a variety of restaurants and stores, excellent libraries and schools makes raising a family here a wonderful experience. We are excited about the township trail system currently underway- providing a safe environment for children to ride bikes and connect to friends in different neighborhoods. Marsh Creek lake has provided so many memorable and fun activities - sailing camp, boating, fishing, walking trails, and incredible views! Current Resident: Park Forest was started in the late 1950’s and heavily expanded in the 60’s through the 80’s and completed with some 90’s and 2000’s homes toward the back closer to Valley Vista. The architecture varies from cute little MCM ranches to raised ranches and a few variations of split level homes (popular among the 60’s through the 80’s portion) to your typical two story cape cod style of home in the newer portion. Houses rarely go up for sale and when they do, they go quickly! If you plan to buy here, definitely work with a relator and be prepared for a bidding war. The neighborhood is very pleasant, virtually crime free and full of sidewalks lined with mature trees. Some of the trees are really big and if they die or get oak wilt, they are expensive to remove. Something to keep in mind. I love the proximity to stores, parks, campus and bike paths and public transit. It’s a very family friendly area and a great place to raise kids or retire....
