The Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum offers visitors an overview of art from the 13th century to the late 20th century. In the nearly one thousand works on display, visitors can contemplate the major periods and pictorial schools of western art such as the Renaissance, Mannerism, the Baroque, Rococo, Romanticism and the art of the 19th and 20th centuries up to Pop Art. The museum also features works from some movements not represented in state-owned collections, such as Impressionism, Fauvism, German Expressionism and the experimental avant-garde movements of the early 20th century. In addition, it boasts an important collection of 19th-century American painting not found in any other European museum institutions.     Worth a visit
    Very big park in central Madrid. Nice lake and gardens. We broke off and had a drink outside the park in Ibiza area. Good way to spend a warm afternoon

    Magnificent collections
    Be prepared to be overwhelmed with the size and scope of the collection. The works by Velasquez and Goya are the highlights, but the museum has much more to offer as well. Set aside the entire day to be there.

    The Art and Decoration is Exquisite.
    The art and decoration in this palace is exquisite and surely rivals any other palaces. We took a self-guided tour. Information stands in English and Spanish in all rooms. Audioguide is also available. Definitely recommend a visit but ensure to book in advance to avoid long queues and waiting times for tickets (can be up to an hour). Cheap prices (approx. £13.00pp).
