Game of Thrones alum Peter Dinklage has joined the cast of the big-screen adaptation of Wicked as the voice of Dr. Dillamond the Goat. At CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Wednesday, Universal Studios unveiled that Dinklage will lend his voice to the character from the beloved Broadway musical.

At CinemaCon, attended by CBR, the revelation came as Universal concluded its presentation with an exclusive preview of Wicked, slated for release in theaters this Thanksgiving. While the showcased footage remains under wraps, a tantalizing teaser has been released to whet the audience's appetite. Directed by Jon M. Chu and produced in two parts, the second installment of Wicked is scheduled to hit theaters during the year-end holidays in 2025, suggesting Universal Studios has high expectations from the star-studded movies.

Starring Cynthia Erivo as the misunderstood Elphaba and Ariana Grande as the privileged Glinda, the film explores the origins of the Wicked Witch of the West and the Good Witch of the South. Their extraordinary adventures unfold against a backdrop of looming darkness threatening the very fabric of Oz. In this cinematic adaptation, Dr. Dillamond, portrayed by Dinklage, serves as a pivotal figure—a wise professor of history at Shiz University and a speaking goat who forewarns Elphaba of impending peril.

Winnie Holzman penned the script for the film, featuring a talented ensemble cast including Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Bowen Yang, Bronwyn James, and Keala Settle in supporting roles. Holzman garnered fame for her work on Broadway, most notably for co-writing the stage musical Wicked. She gained recognition for her creation of the ABC television series My So-Called Life, which earned her a nomination for a scriptwriting Emmy Award in 1995.

Peter Dinklage's Next Big Role Revealed

Dinklage, renowned for his iconic portrayal of Tyrion Lannister in Game of Thrones, brings his talent to breathe life into the character of Dr. Dillamond, adding depth to the already star-studded cast. Dinklage has had a series of captivating performances in recent years. Stepping into the prequel universe of Panem, Dinklage portrayed the esteemed Casca Highbottom in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes" The actor lent his voice to the menacing Terrorcon Scourge in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. In the dark thriller I Care a Lot, Dinklage embodied the role of Roman Lunyov, opposite Rosamund Pike's character.

The first installment of Wicked hits theaters on November 27, followed by the second part on November 26, 2025.
