Nectar describes the Nectar Memory Foam Mattress as a medium-firm bed, or a 6.5 on the 1 to 10 mattress firmness scale (10 is the firmest). Our 360 Lab testing confirms the mattress has a medium-firm feel, as do a number of critic reviews that rate the mattress a 6 out of 10.

The Nectar Memory Foam is a 12-inch mattress with three foam layers wrapped in a polyblend cover. A 2-inch layer of gel memory foam serves as the comfort layer. Below this is a 3-inch layer of transition foam followed by a supportive base layer that’s 7 inches of durable foam.

The Nectar mattress measures 12 inches in height.
When we tested the Nectar, we found it didn't stop us from offers good motion isolation for couples of similar or different sizes, which might make it a good choice for couples who get easily woken up by movement.
USN&WR
We found the Nectar Memory Foam to have strong motion isolation.
Our testers found that the Nectar Memory Foam had good edge support, or the perimeter of the bed felt firm and didn't dip when they sat on the edge of the mattress, and didn't have any trouble getting in or out of bed. In general, couples and heavier sleepers might enjoy good edge support to prevent them from rolling off the bed or sinking into the center of the mattress.
USN&WR
A medium-firm mattress, the Memory Foam Mattress from Nectar has a 6.5 rating on the 1-to-10 firmness scale.
The Nectar Memory Foam has a cover made of heat-absorbent fabric and gel memory foam, which the manufacturer claims can offer a cooling sensation. In our 360 Lab, we found that while the mattress feels cool to the touch, it warms up after two to three minutes and isn’t as cooling as other similar models on the market.
USN&WR
This is an all-foam mattress made of three layers of different foams.
When we tried this mattress, our testers found that the mattress’s many layers might offer good pressure relief for most sleeper types, especially on their backs and stomachs. Even our petite tester found some support on her side when compared to many of the other mattresses in our rating.

The Nectar Mattress is a 12-inch tall bed with an all-foam construction. A breathable quilted cover encases a two-inch layer of gel-infused memory foam to help the mattress sleep cooler than traditional memory foam. This foam layer is also designed to offer pressure relief ideal for side sleepers or anyone dealing with back and shoulder pain.
Below this is a 3-inch layer of responsive polyfoam that’s designed to help with motion isolation while providing spinal alignment. Below this is a 7-inch support layer of dense polyfoam designed to resist sagging. All foam used in the Nectar Mattress carries a CertiPUR-US certification that lets sleepers know the bed is free from harsh chemicals and has a low emission of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that can negatively impact indoor air quality.
All three foam layers of the Nectar are encased in a shift-resistant cover that’s meant to keep the bed’s layers from shifting on top of each other.
USN&WR
The top layer is infused with gel for added cooling. The middle layer provides contouring support while the denser base foam provides a solid base.

We rate the Nectar Memory Foam as a 6 out of 10 on the firmness scale or a medium-firm. While it maintains a slight foam feel, we found that it’s very easy to change positions.
Lightweight Sleepers (less than 130 pounds)
The Nectar Memory Foam might have a medium-firm feel to sleepers weighing less than 130 pounds. Our reviewer says that it takes a few minutes to feel the mattress conform to your body and it’s easy to change positions on the mattress. Lightweight stomach sleepers and back sleepers might like the feel of the mattress, but lightweight side sleepers might find it slightly too firm. Our lightweight reviewer also mentioned that the mattress has a good level of motion isolation. They couldn’t feel a heavier sleeper get into the bed.
Average-weight Sleepers (130-230 pounds)
While the Nectar Memory Foam might feel slightly less firm to sleepers that weigh 130 to 230 pounds, it still might offer good support. One of our reviewers, who weighs 190 pounds, felt comfortable on the mattress in all sleeping positions and also noticed that the bed had good edge support. Overall, while the Nectar Memory Foam might be slightly too firm for some lightweight sleepers, it appears to be a well-rounded option for average-weight sleepers.
Heavyweight Sleepers (more than 230 pounds)
Heavyweight sleepers might not be as comfortable on the Nectar Memory Foam Mattress as on other models on the market. The mattress doesn’t come with a firmness option for heavy sleepers, so they might find this softer than lighter and average-weight sleepers. While our 250-pound reviewer found the mattress to be comfortable on their back and stomach, they didn’t find it as supportive on their side. They also moved the bed around when they moved, which might not make it a good option for people looking for more stability.

While the Nectar Memory Foam is made of strictly memory foam, the DreamCloud is a hybrid mattress made of memory foam and a layer of individually wrapped coils. Both have a medium-firm feel, but the DreamCloud is bouncier and might be a better choice for heavy sleepers that weigh more than 230 pounds because it offers more support due to its hybrid design. Mattresses with innersprings tend to be more supportive for heavier individuals.
The Nectar Memory Foam has better motion isolation than the DreamCloud, which means it might be a better fit for couples in search of a mattress that minimizes movement. Our reviewers found that the Nectar Memory Foam offers pressure relief to most sleepers, while the DreamCloud might not be comfortable for lightweight sleepers that weigh 130 pounds or less.
Both are budget-friendly mattresses. A queen-size DreamCloud costs $1,332, while a queen-size Nectar Memory Foam costs $1,099, but both are often on sale.

Both the Nectar Memory Foam and Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Cloud are all-foam mattresses. The Nectar Memory Foam is a budget pick compared to the Tempur-Cloud, which is almost twice its cost. A queen-size Nectar costs $1,099, while a queen-size Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Cloud costs $1,999. The Nectar Memory Foam is a better pick for anyone on a budget, while someone seeking out a more luxurious mattress might want to invest in the Tempur-Cloud.
The Tempur-Cloud uses a trademarked foam that it claims is different from other types of foams on the market. The Nectar Memory Foam is made up of three layers of foam, but the top layer is a cooling gel foam. Both offer a good amount of motion isolation and pressure relief, so they both might be good options for couples or anyone suffering from joint pain.

The Nectar Memory Foam is an all-foam mattress with a medium-firm feel. A budget-friendly fit, it can satisfy different needs. Our testers found that the bed has good motion isolation, which means it might be a good fit for some couples. Lightweight and average-weight sleepers might find the bed comfortable in all sleeping positions.
A Nectar mattress can take anywhere between 24 and 72 hours to fully expand. Nectar cites a few factors that could affect this time frame: ventilation, humidity, and air pressure. A poorly ventilated space or a humid climate could cause your mattress to expand more slowly. Yet, while Nectar advises you to wait until the mattress has expanded to its full dimensions before sleeping on it, you won’t damage the mattress if you do decide to sleep on it right away.
Nectar’s foam mattresses might emit a smell while the foam expands as a result of off-gassing, but Nectar says the smell should dissipate quickly. The foam in Nectar mattresses is CertiPUR-US certified indicating that it does not contain heavy metals, mercury, lead, formaldehyde, phthalates, and ozone depleters. In the 360 Lab, our sleep expert described the smell as “very slight.”
Using a box spring with a Nectar Mattress is acceptable, though not necessary. The company’s warranty states that its beds should be used with a firm, solid surface that’s designed to support the weight of the mattress and its users. Nectar also says its mattresses can work with several types of bed foundations like adjustable bases and platform beds.
