🎉 We celebrated a milestone at Berkhamsted last week with a ‘topping-out’ ceremony for the new @berkhamstedsixth building!
✍️ The occasion was commemorated with Sixth Formers, School staff, Governors, Architects, the construction team and Principal Richard Backhouse, who eagerly gathered to sign their names on a wooden panel that will be drilled into the walls for future Berkhamstedians to uncover.
Mr Backhouse made a heartfelt speech, highlighting the amazing opportunities that lie ahead for our Berkhamstedians. “The world outside School is changing fast,” Richard explained, “We need a new building to prepare children even better for the changing demands of the world.”
🚀Our new Sixth will have state-of-the-art spaces like the `Future Zone` for budding entrepreneurs and Harkness Model classrooms. We`re excited to provide an environment that mimics modern workplaces and equips our students for success.

Our talented pupils from Years 7 to 9 rocked the stage at our Music Talent Show, all in support of @musicforallcharity a charity dedicated to promoting health, well-being, and education through music across the UK. 🌟
From the lively beats of Year 7’s Rhythm Bash band performing James Brown’s ‘I Got You (I Feel Good)’ to captivating solos and harmonious choir renditions, the evening was filled with incredible performances. Highlights included Georgiana and Annabel’s show-stopping musical numbers, Gibran’s piano mastery with ‘Over The Bars’, and Maya’s stunning rendition of ‘Interstellar X Cornfield Chase’. 🎤🎹🎻
👑Dom was the overall winner with his rendition of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody.
Thank you to our esteemed judges, Mr. Curtis and Mr. Hockedy, and everyone who came out to support this wonderful cause. Together, we are making a difference and sharing the joy of music with all.

4. Reframe Your Worry: Turn nerves into high-octane fuel for success.
5. Get Outdoors: Take breaks and get fresh air to avoid burnout.

Katy Costin, Assistant Director of Sport, discusses the growth of girls’ cricket in the latest edition of #SchoolSportMagazine. 🏏
With the growth of female professional cricket and approximately 34% of U16s playing cricket weekly being female, it’s clear that the women’s game is thriving.
At Berkhamsted, girls’ cricket has developed and we now have a fully established girls’ programme. Despite facing challenges, like limited availability of specialist teachers and equipment, we are overcoming these hurdles and are proud of our strong fixture list and the participation of girls from Year 6 up to Year 13, who can see a clear progression pathway.
Thanks to our Level 3 cricket coaches and partnerships with local cricket bodies @berkhamstedcc, @hertscricket and @buckscricket.official and the @ace.programme, we’re fostering a future where girls in cricket is not just a possibility, but a celebrated norm.
