Coronation Street's Saira Choudhry announces she's engaged to partner after romantic proposal at Edinburgh Castle 23 years on from first meeting
Former Coronation Street star Saira Choudry has announced she is engaged to her partner Marcus Jackson - 23 years after first meeting.
The actress, 40, who starred as Naila Badil on the soap between 2013 and 2019, revealed Marcus popped the question during a trip to Edinburgh Castle with friends.
Taking to Instagram, Saira shared the moment Marcus got down on one knee before uploading of snap showing off her diamond ring outside the historic monument.

Saira wrote: 'I said Yesss. Mrs Jackson it is then, Love you @jaxson_2013 Met you 23 years ago. Who knew our journey would lead us here.

The actress had headed to Edinburgh Castle with friends when Marcus seized the moment to get down on one knee.

A slew of Saira's soap co-stars took to the comment section to share congratulatory messages.
Sarah Lawrence, who played Darlene on Hollyoaks, wrote: 'You deserve all the happiness in the world my girl.'
While Siobhan Hewlett wrote: 'Huge congratulations darling!!!'

Saira first came to prominence in 2008, when she joined the cast of Hollyoaks as Anita Roy.
She then went on to join Coronation Street and after her stint on the cobbles, she played Saira Malik in BBC's Life.
This year, Saira has appeared as Alice in one episode of BBC comedy Peacock and as Nancy in the CBBC series Dodger.
