FC Dallas Earns a Point on the Road with 1-1 Draw against Houston Dynamo FC

HOUSTON, Texas (May 18, 2024) – FC Dallas rallied from a goal down to tie Houston Dynamo FC 1-1 thanks to Petar Musa’s second-half goal at Shell Energy Stadium Saturday night.

THE TEXAS DERBY

FC Dallas has won the 2024 Texas Derby, the regular season series between Dallas and Houston, thanks to tonight’s draw and last month’s win over the Dynamo. FC Dallas will keep El Capitán, the 19th-century replica cannon, at its home stadium for the third consecutive year. El Capitán has remained at Toyota Stadium in six of the last seven years.

ENDING THE STREAKS

Prior to tonight, FC Dallas had a record of 0-4-0 when trailing at halftime. Dallas ended the streak tonight following a Petar Musa equalizer. Dallas also failed to win its last five matches when conceding the opening goal in MLS dating back to its 2-1 home win against the San Jose Earthquakes on February 25. Dallas is now 3-1-1 in its last five matches across all competitions.

NORRIS GETS THE START

FC Dallas Homegrown Nolan Norris got his first start of the 2024 season today in Houston. This was Norris’ third overall start since signing as an FC Dallas Homegrown in November 2022.

MAKE THEM COUNT

Dallas forward Petar Musa scored the equalizer in the 69th minute after capitalizing on a Houston mistake. Jesús Ferreira played a pass to Bernard Kamungo who assisted Musa. Musa now has five goals in his first season in MLS.

Following Open Cup play, FC Dallas returns to Toyota Stadium versus Real Salt Lake on Saturday, May 25 at 7:30 PM CT on Night at the Museum presented by WinStar World Casino & Resort.
