A new era: Valerie Amos reflects on her five years as UN Humanitarian Chief

Valerie Amos was the Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator from September 2010 to May 2015, overseeing all emergencies requiring United Nations humanitarian assistance. She is succeeded by Stephen O'Brien, who began his tenure at OCHA this week.
