Louis Alexandre de Bourbon (6 June 1678 – 1 December 1737) was a legitimised Prince of the French royal blood and natural son of Louis XIV and of his mistress Françoise-Athénaïs, marquise de Montespan. At the age of five, he became grand admiral of France.


Marriage[edit]

On 2 February 1723, during the Regency of Philippe d'Orlèans, he married Marie Victoire de Noailles, Dowager Marquise of Gondrin, helself a daughter of Anne Jules de Noailles, 2nd Duke of Noailles and Marie Françoise de Bournonville and widow of his half cousin Louis de Pardaillan, Marquis of Gondrin. The marriage was announced only after the death of the Régent in December of the same year.

  1. Louis Jean Marie de Bourbon, Duke of Penthièvre (16 November 1725 – 4 March 1793) married Maria Teresa Felicitas d'Este, Princess of Modena and had issue.
