A canção que intitula o quinto full lenght do Sorcerer é a terceira faixa de seu tracklist. Embora a banda começara suas atividades em 1988, ela só lançou o seu debut, “In the Shadow of the Inverted Cross”, em 2015. Logo depois, veio o segundo álbum, “The Crowning of the Fire King”, no ano de 2017.

A letra de “Lamenting Of The Innocent” é um reflexo da atmosfera Epic Doom Metal, ou seja, combina exatamente com a sonoridade do quinteto de Estocolmo. A temática é sobre uma realidade fictícia, em um ambiente distópico, no qual há desgraça, que é, primordialmente, a tradução da palavra Doom. Por conta disso, portanto, há medo em todos os lados.
