Notre Dame has landed another men’s basketball player from the transfer portal. Nikita Konstantynovskyi announced his commitment to head coach Micah Shrewsberry and the Fighting Irish on social media Tuesday afternoon. The 6-10, 245-pound post player spent one season at Monmouth after playing at Tulsa in his first two years in college.

Konstantynovskyi averaged 9.3 points and a team-high 8.3 rebounds in 23.5 minutes per game for the Hawks this season. He blocked 20 shots while hitting 132 of 251 shots (52.6%). He also connected on 43 of 66 free throws (65.2%) in the 2023-2024 campaign.

The Kyiv, Ukraine native began his career in the United States by playing for two seasons at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M (junior) College. Northeastern Oklahoma A&M averaged 14.1 points and 7.0 rebounds as a freshman in the 2019-2020 season. He averaged 11.1 points and 8.0 boards as a sophomore. He ranked second in the NJCAA in FG% (60.2%) and blocked shots (44) as well as fifth in offensive rebounding and ninth in total rebounds that season.

Konstantynovskyi played in 29 games at Tulsa with nine career starts, both coming in the 2021-2022 season. He averaged 2.0 points and 2.7 rebounds with nine blocked shots that season. He played in just two games and received a medical redshirt due to injury during the 2022-2023 season.

Notre Dame had a pressing need to add to the front court via the transfer portal this offseason after forwards Matt Zona and Carey Booth both exited via the transfer portal. Zona went to Fordham while Booth landed at Illinois.

Konstantynovskyi is the second player to join the Fighting Irish via the transfer portal this offseason. Princeton guard Matt Allocco announced his commitment to the Irish last month. Notre Dame’s roster currently stands at the NCAA maximum 13 scholarships for next season if Markus Burton returns after entering his name in the NBA Draft pool. Burton was not among the 78 players to receive an invitation to attend the NBA’s Draft Combine.
