So what made Cate Blanchett appear as an extra in a film made in a country far away from her native land, Australia? When she was in Cairo, Egypt, Cate was approached to act as an extra for Kaboria. Recalling the experience, she remarked, "They were going to pay two Egyptian pounds that was going to pay my rent for the week, so I said, 'Sure.'" Cate also revealed that she found the shooting of the film to be a very boring experience, though we are thankful that it didn't bore her enough not to consider acting as a career.
