- Lem S46 contributionsWe took a tour bus as we were luck of time. We walked on that famous street , took some pictures. Shanghai is so big that some days are even not enough. There were lots of tourists there. Nearby caffes are rather expensive. After failing to even closely fit in over a dozen ready to wear suits, finally decided to look for affordable MTM(made-to-measure) options and found “South Bund Fabric Market”. Tbh, most of the shops look quite similar, and the reviews online vary so wildly, it was almost impossible to make an easy choice. Thanks to a local friend, finally decided to go with the “Suits by Susan”. The prices seem to range between 2k-5k based on material and other details. After choosing the material, style and initial measurements, the fitting was after one week, where their tailor does adjustments and I also asked for couple modifications. Fast forward another week and I got the suit and it was pretty satisfactory, fit was just right and felt quite comfortable overall. If anyone’s looking for a good fit and affordable suits here in Shanghai, 10/10 would recommend it. The place is in the second floor(269) of the building, and you can ask for Andy there, who speaks quite good English. (see him there in the pic)
Also, It seems ‘suits by susan’ has multiple stores but the staff on the other one I’ve spoken with earlier were not quite patient and annoyingly salesy, thus I’ve ended up with this branch.

We got the 2-ball tickets which gave us access to the 263m, 259m glass deck, and 78m futuristic deck. The viewing glass panels were old and had some blurry marks and scratches which made the overall experience a little less spectacular, but you could enjoy a 360° view of Shanghai overseeing the skyscrapers and Huangpu river. At the 259m deck is the all-round glass floor where you look down all the way to the ground floor, very exciting but not for the faint. Again it was very crowded so it dampens our experience a little.
The 78m deck brings you through a virtual tour of Shanghai history via a moving travelator, it took us a long queue and wait to get there so we felt it could be skipped.
There's a shopping mall under the tower for snacks and souvenirs but if you're thinking to get the pearl tower shaped ice cream do note it's only available on the 263m deck.

Then, there was a wonderful exhibit showcasing the terracotta warriors.
It was an interesting sight to see the building, which is in the shape of an old imperial wine cup traditionally used by the Emperor.
Unfortunately, this time, three of the galleries were closed, and the exhibit on Leonardo da Vinci had just ended. Nevertheless, they still had similar galleries showcasing the clothing and jewellery of the minority groups in China, as well as calligraphy and Chinese paintings. We liked the wooden furniture exhibition.
All in all, we spent on,y an hour here this time, due to the gallery closures.
Entry is free via a QR code, and you need your passport. You can register at the booth outside near the souvenir store, and entry is then further round the corner at the southwest entrance. The nearest Metro exit is number 1, and the museum is closed on Mondays. It still looks French and there is an international feel as there are restaurants from all over the place. So many restaurants. So much great food. Heping Hotel has been my favorite hotel in China since 2018. I met Zoey, their talented and excellent front desk operator who helped me a lot during my stay. China is changing rapidly since last I was there. Zoey was kind and informative. She made my visit in China much more easier. The room she gave me have impeccable street view. However to get this view we had to upgrade to the VIP tickets on the boat, which puts you at the front of the boat. That gives unobstructed views. Important to note though that people are allowed to smoke on the boat and they do. The volume of people pushing in the lines to get to the boat, on the stairs and at the top of the boat was troubling to us, noting this might not be an issue for others.
