Shanghai’s skyline is arguably the most beautiful, enchanting, and harmonious I have seen anywhere in the world. It represents world-class urban planning.

The buildings are located in Pudong, but the best place to photograph them is from The Bund. The absolute best spot is around where Nanjing Road meets The Bund.

Overall, The Bund, which stretches along a small section of the city’s busy river, is a lovely place to stroll and people-watch.

I went to Jojo’s Tailor (stall 143) and got a custom suit done. The suit is incredible. Jojo was very knowledgeable, talented and quick. It is a quick turn around, so even if you are only in Shanghai for a short time I recommend going.

Beautiful! Must in Shanghai. The area right outside the mansion also really nice with shops to look around and walk. Fun. Almost like an outdoor shopping mall.

Spectacular, massive, huge, but very crowded.

We got the 2-ball tickets which gave us access to the 263m, 259m glass deck, and 78m futuristic deck. The viewing glass panels were old and had some blurry marks and scratches which made the overall experience a little less spectacular, but you could enjoy a 360° view of Shanghai overseeing the skyscrapers and Huangpu river. At the 259m deck is the all-round glass floor where you look down all the way to the ground floor, very exciting but not for the faint. Again it was very crowded so it dampens our experience a little.

The 78m deck brings you through a virtual tour of Shanghai history via a moving travelator, it took us a long queue and wait to get there so we felt it could be skipped.

There's a shopping mall under the tower for snacks and souvenirs but if you're thinking to get the pearl tower shaped ice cream do note it's only available on the 263m deck.

Worth a visit but ticket is not cheap at RMB199 per pax.

It has been around ten years since our last visit and we were keen to see the exhibitions. Then, there was a wonderful exhibit showcasing the terracotta warriors.

It was an interesting sight to see the building, which is in the shape of an old imperial wine cup traditionally used by the Emperor.

Unfortunately, this time, three of the galleries were closed, and the exhibit on Leonardo da Vinci had just ended. Nevertheless, they still had similar galleries showcasing the clothing and jewellery of the minority groups in China, as well as calligraphy and Chinese paintings. We liked the wooden furniture exhibition.

All in all, we spent on,y an hour here this time, due to the gallery closures.

Entry is free via a QR code, and you need your passport. You can register at the booth outside near the souvenir store, and entry is then further round the corner at the southwest entrance. The nearest Metro exit is number 1, and the museum is closed on Mondays. There is another branch of the museum in Pudong.

The Former French Concession (FFC), including the Tianzifang area, consists of several streets with low houses that host shops catering to most needs, restaurants, and cafes—some quite exclusive, but most aimed at regular people. Much of the area is shaded by large, charming plane trees.

Many travel writers enthusiastically claim they feel transported to France, even to Paris itself, but that's only partly true. The houses resemble German architecture more than French. However, you can wander around for hours without feeling like you're in a bustling Asian metropolis. The area is neither Shanghai nor Europe, but entirely unique.

If you're aiming to explore the FFC, consider Julu Road, Yongjia Road, Sinan Road, Fuxing Park, and Tianzifang.

Nanjing Road Pedestrian Walkway is impressive, orderly, and international, with plenty of expensive brand-name stores – but honestly, it feels similar to shopping streets in many other major Asian cities.

However, you’ll also find Shanghai First Food Hall along the way, where you can eat well and cheaply among the local Chinese.

There are many different small restaurants and delicatessens, and the place is clearly not aimed at tourists (which we tourists can appreciate, right?).

A lot of things changed during COVID-19 Pandemic, but not the extraordinary service provided by Heping Fandian's team! Heping Hotel has been my favorite hotel in China since 2018. I met Zoey, their talented and excellent front desk operator who helped me a lot during my stay. China is changing rapidly since last I was there. Zoey was kind and informative. She made my visit in China much more easier. The room she gave me have impeccable street view. It always makes me want to extend my stay.

If you are looking for interesting food other than Chinese food, this is a good place to start. Even if not for meals, taking a stroll and taking in the architecture is just as pleasant.

The museum is a fantastic time machine bringing you back to a bygone era in China. The posters were engaging and interesting to watch. You can easily spend and hour here. There is also a good museum shop where you can even buy original posters.

Finding the museum was a bit tricky. It is located between two banks on Yannan road.

We loved this place, although it is very touristy and really a shopping experience. It was quite busy, I imagine at the weekend it would be unbearable. I loved the narrow lane shopping experience, you could walk past without too much attention paid to you, unlike other markets in China. You are 1 of many tourists here. Lots of places to eat.

We didn’t do the gardens, temples or boat. We took the tourist tuk tuk to the entrance at 20 Yuan. The poor driver was struggling with our Western weight!
