Trying to buy Minecraft asks for permission from a "parent" that doesn't exist

Help

So I've created an account for Microsoft, and upon trying to buy Minecraft for windows from the official Minecraft website, it asks for parental permission and sends a confirmation email. I'm not part of any Microsoft family and, thanks to bad design, it doesn't actually tell me where this email has been sent. What am I supposed to do?

Well, when you created your account you told them you were under the age of 13, meaning you needed to have a parent email linked to your account to allow you to play.

I didn't tell them I was under 13 (I'm not) and it didn't request a parent email to be linked.

This could be an issue with the inbuilt microsft privacy settings on the impacted account

another way to solve this is by someone creating or linking their account as a "parent" account to the problem account - then setting the accounts privacy restrictions from the parent account
